Excited to share that I'll be presenting at the Yale Life Sciences Pitchfest on Dec. 7th! 🌟 Join me as I showcase my work (to regrow new hair) and connect with hundreds of #lifesciences professionals. Learn more & register here: https://t.co/zPvJvBAteo
In their Review, Peggy Myung @HairMyung, Thomas Andl & Radhika Atit @Atitlab highlight both the classic experiments & the impact of single-cell technology on resolving the heterogeneity of fibroblasts to understand the origins of skin diversity.

In this @Dev_Journal review, @Atitlab, @HairMyung and Thomas Andl dive into the origins of the #dermis, then discuss how one of the first morphologically recognizable fibroblast subtypes, the hair follicle dermal condensate lineage, emerges.

Interested candidates should email a cover letter that briefly describes their personal and career goals as well as their research/scientific background, their CV, and 3 letters of reference to [email protected]. Reference contacts may be submitted in lieu of letters.
Our lab is recruiting! We are looking for a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow who’s interested in regeneration, cancer and development in the skin, including but not limited to hair follicles. Please see below image or visit our website for more info: https://t.co/BmZ4s3rT8W
Charles Saez is a postgraduate associate with a BS in Biochemistry. His primarily focuses on implementing tissue culture within ongoing projects on embryonic hair follicle morphogenesis. Outside of lab, he has a diverse range of hobbies including: hiking, piano, and jiu jitsu.
Yiqun Jiang is a 2nd year PhD student in Myung Lab. She is interested in studying the conserved behavior of dermal niche between adult hair follicle regeneration and embryonic hair follicle morphogenesis. She also enjoys good food, musicals, choreography and watching TV shows.
Peggy Myung, MD, PhD, is a dermatopathologist and the principle investigator. She is interested in examining mechanisms that control hair follicle morphogenesis and regeneration. She loves talking about science :), reading fiction novels, eating sushi and going on long walks!
(3/3) Current work is focused on dissecting out other molecular steps involved in DC formation as well as the implication in adult hair follicle regeneration. But our scientific interest is definitely not restricted and we welcome talents to diversify our lab’s research!
Our 2019 Dev Cell paper (Gupta et al.) is an example of the hair-related questions of our interest and the interdisciplinary approach we took to answer those questions. Solving the black box for dermal condensate formation in embryonic hair morphogenesis: https://t.co/ml6lBZ9El8
(2/3) We used unbiased scRNA-seq analysis to infer the molecular trajectory of dermal cells towards DC formation and showed autonomous dermal Wnt activation is required for DC formation. We also identified a group of DC progenitors that DC selectively incorporated from.

(1/3) Dermal condensate(DC) is the embryonic precursor for the dermal papilla(DP), the mesenchymal center essential for adult hair follicle growth. DC is recognizable after the condensation occurs, yet the molecular steps of how patternless dermal cells form a DC are unknown.
