There can be no doubt this is a seminal moment in Welsh politics.

What's struck me is the whole debate around the issue on here.

People sharing, engaging, thinking, discussing.

In real-time about real situations.

And all without the politicians!

This may well suggest our existing model is broken.

Challenge now is to replicate this level of engagement on other key issues.

Perhaps we should consider a form of direct democracy.

As a new model to aim for.

The Swiss hold regular referenda every 3 months on important topics.

With high levels of engagement and interest in these popular votes.

If the Swiss can do it...
