Maryam Sanda attempted to murder her Husband about five times on the same night before she finally succeeded. Whatever reason that might have been presented to the President to justify the pardon could never have been enough to justify the pardon of a cold blooded murderer sentenced to death and has only served 6 years in prison.

There are thousands of Nigerians in various correctional facilities whose only offence is being poor and coming from a poor background, those are the people deserving of pardon, not privileged folks who believe they can get away with anything. In fact, the number of persons that were pardoned by the President will be replaced in a few hours by the Nigerian police through their illegal raids.

We need a judicial system where people are held accountable for their actions without favor as a deterrent to others and an Executive who do not betray the very essence of a good justice system to unnecessarily extend pardon to the few persons who have been punished for heinous crimes committed against others and the State.

Furthermore, people who have been found guilty of corrupt practices must never be beneficiaries of Presidential pardon in a country where most people get away with it. DETERRENCE!!!
