During last night’s public budget deliberations, we filled council chambers alongside countless community members, demanding councillors reject the proposed $12 million increase to the Hamilton Police Services budget.

We've been through this before, @cityoftoronto. If government can't — or won't — shelter everyone who needs it, the public is the last line of defence. Tiny Tiny Homes are keeping people safe — especially in the midst of snowstorms! https://t.co/DgPAqrsC1n
Today, I launched an election campaign with members of the newly formed Ontario Coalition for the Rights of Homeless People (OCRHP). We demand that the next provincial government:
1. Commit to building the housing that Ontarians both need and that is their fundamental right.
2. Reject the removal of homeless people's Charter-protected rights by abusing the Notwithstanding Clause.
3. Have a concrete and compassionate plan to address homelessness.

Want to join our work on this? sign up on the form on https://t.co/9kQgGJeLIe and let your candidates know too! This is a platform not just for an election, but for new paths forward for Ontario. We need bold, real action now.
We are here at city hall! We oppose both motions today that will hurt #HamOnt renters. No cuts/delays/changes to the Safe Apartment Bylaw, renoviction bylaw and Tenant Support Program. Motions coming up soon! Tune in here https://t.co/snA59y1q3r
DJNO, @DisabilityPM, @ODSPAction & disabled organizers from around Ontario have put together a new post-election platform: https://t.co/xPUOo1WzgB. Friends, this is bigger than any election. Enough is enough—30 years of austerity & social murder of disabled people needs to end.
We are back at City Hall this morning for the 9:30 am Council meeting! ACORN is urging Council to vote against any changes/cuts to the Tenant Support Program, Safe Apartment Bylaw and Renoviction Bylaw. #HamOnt watch here https://t.co/0PuWqXrFiv
Critically important timeline from @HamOntESN as @cityofhamilton votes (again) on these issues today including deplorable attacks on @HamiltonJustice for supporting unhoused people in their access to justice.

We are disheartened to see this motion come forward to defund the important work supporting low-income tenants in #HamOnt . We stand by @HamiltonJustice and implore all City councillors to vote against any motion that harms some of the most vulnerable residents of our city.
"This will take some time as we roll this out... it will be important for council and the community to understand ... there will not be everyone gone from parks when we wake up” 4/4
What’s coming next? Feb 12: Council votes on budget motions New/deferred budget motions will be voted on, and approved motions will be ratified. Mayor Horwath will then have 10 days to to veto any ratified motions. A 2/3 majority vote would overrule the Mayor. 1/4
