#Syria: one year ago today, former Pilot Raghid Al-Tatari was freed by Rebels.

He spent 43 years in prison, including 15 years in Palmyra and another 10 in Saydnaya.

Contrary to what was widely circulated, he wasn't arrested for personally refusing to bomb the city of #Hama.

In an interview this year, he clarified that he was detained after urging his fellow Air Force pilots to refuse orders to bomb Hama in 1981 (during Hafez Assad's rule).

On this day, 108 years ago, at the stroke of a colonial pen, the 67 word Balfour Declaration was issued promising our land away, reducing our existence to “non-Jewish communities”, and triggering the ethnic cleansing of Palestine and the ongoing Nakba and dispossession of the Palestinian people.

108 years later, we remain rooted in our land, certain that no declaration made or crime committed can erase our presence on our land.

It is long overdue to recognize, apologize, reparate, and end this historic injustice that befell a colonized, captive, and oppressed people.
