It’s hard for me to even breathe watching the videos of this angel. His family should not be in this position. He should be here today. Why is our country like this?
A lot is being shared about the suspect of the #Apalachee_High_School shooting. More needs to be shared on victims. This thread of videos from Mason Schermerhorn’s family & shows his hobbies, interests, smile & laughter. His sister, Alanna says he was full of energy & positivity
@michaelloomis@SSGDWalters@EdKrassen My gosh your screen shot is proving my point. 🤦🏼♀️ Not everyone has to be licensed. Only those who are licensed are required to run background checks in 29 states. A LOOPHOLE. Close it.
@michaelloomis@SSGDWalters@EdKrassen Reading comprehension is critical. I already said the AAP is the American Academy of Pediatrics.
You were the one who asked where you could go buy a gun without a background check. My point is go walk into a gun show in Georgia (or any one of 29 other states). There you go.
@SSGDWalters@michaelloomis@EdKrassen I think that’s great - I am not anti-gun. I’m glad you worked with good dealers who run background checks. My point is that non-federally licensed dealers (many small time dealers) are not required to run background checks & do not run background checks. Therein lies the problem.
@SSGDWalters@michaelloomis@EdKrassen I encourage you to re-read it. Lol according to the AAP only 40% of gun sales go through federally licensed dealers. Those would all have background checks completed. That leaves 60% of gun sales up for a free-for-all based on which state they’re sold in.
@SSGDWalters@michaelloomis@EdKrassen No, I’m saying up to 60% of gun sales do not legally require a background check and that loophole right there is a problem…
@michaelloomis@EdKrassen@SSGDWalters You asked “where can I buy a firearm without a background check” … I was just letting you know. Try a gun show in any one of 29 states that don’t regulate it.
@michaelloomis@EdKrassen@SSGDWalters Actually only 21 states have background check requirements. The federal law mandating background checks only applies to federally licensed gun dealers, and only about 40% of gun sales go through them.
Every single shooting could be one of the last. Instead we continue the endless debate that drives the inaction which brought us here. Until we start making our response to these shootings finding common ground and acting like we did after Parkland- this won’t end.
