I’m not disagreeing with you because, I’m privileged, male or feel entitled. I’m just neurodiverse, so may not see the world the same way. Please be tolerant
@Raisam1947@DJconteh01@Nigel_Farage You are really comparing a country of 92,600 Sq Miles with one with less than a tenth of the population and just 287 Sq Miles?
Comparative homicide rates per 100k approx are Germany 1.0 UK 1.1 France 1.3 and US 5.9
Not really what you are catastrophising.
@Raisam1947@DJconteh01@Nigel_Farage Emirates are hardly a good match, either in population or demographics. Large (mostly wealthy) expatriate gated communities etc, etc.
Free speech is being held up as needing to be closer to the US model. Are you suggesting we should be using the UAE as our benchmark there too?
@Raisam1947@DJconteh01@Nigel_Farage Knife crime is actually falling, year on year
Compared to many countries, including the US, it was already many times lower.
However, one stabbing is one too many -we should be relentless in our pursuit of offenders.
But it would not do to lose our sense of proportion either
@ABridgen Well, I suppose it beats walking the streets wearing a billboard with “the end is nigh”. But when did we move from tolerating conspiracy paranoia maniacs into facilitating them? Is it just for political gain? Or should we still pity rather than revile them? Modern problems…
@matthewdmarsden I’ve lived in the UK all my life. Switch blades ie flick knives, were definitely a thing (that’s why we banned them). Only the US turned a knife-fighter into a hero -Jim Bowie.
Knife crime rates are actually falling, and remains many times lower than the US.
Nostalgia though
@AndyCambridge4@LibertyLydia The only bit that’s credible is that it was in Mile End.
But the Booties are tight bunch, if anyone recognises him, I’m sure they’ll come forward.
Bear in mind that the bush war was over in 1986. Allowing for basic and selection that would make him at least 62+
@ABridgen Heart attack victim here. I am vaccinated. But my father (who had congestive heart disease), his father (who had congestive heart disease) or my maternal grandfather (who died of complications from a heart attack) they all weren’t…. But no, you are right it must be the jab!!
@LibertyLydia Mmm….I’m thinking his name is probably Walter.
The Ugandan Bush War was 1981-86. There is no documented British involvement. But even if there were, SF already have to be serving before selection, which would make him at least 60.
He’s either worn particularly well or…..
@twychy@CF_Farrow There is a country mile of difference between request and receiving the help we are entitled to and acting like we are just entitled.
