I was honored to contribute an essay to @commentmag on Wang Yi and Bonhoeffer. Did you know this is the 5 and 80 year anniversaries of their arrests? This piece is essentially everything I've wanted to say about WY since Faithful Disobedience came out. https://t.co/d67O5Q5yYV
So grateful for the faithfulness, encouragement, and challenge that pastors in the global church provide for my own ministry. From @HannahFSNation@TGC:

It’s a huge honor to be returning to the institution we both graduated from. Trey started his MDiv & MAOT the year we were engaged & I moved up after the wedding. We then lived in the area for seven years. We are excited and we covet your prayers!
📣 Major life update 📣The Nation family is moving! We’re excited to share that Trey has accepted an Old Testament faculty position at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and we’ll be moving back to the Boston area later this summer.
Is there a doctor in the house??? Yes! Yes there is! 🙌🥳🤩 for Trey passing his defense with distinction! Can’t wait to get him home from Harvard to celebrate. Thank you all for your prayers, support, & encouragement over these long 8 years. More life updates coming soon…
Great perspective on how the church should view suffering and what that means in a world that considers itself "coming of age". You get a different understanding when hearing from the pastors of house churches in China.
Bonhoeffer pondered the meaning of the church in 'a world come of age.' Wang Yi's theology provides good answers. "Wang Yi argues that the way of the cross is necessary for testifying to the truth of the gospel. As already stated, the way of the cross is the way of apologetics."
"The more the church is persecuted, the more it testifies to the world about the kingship of Christ."
@HannahFSNation on the lessons to learn from the Chinese church.

Finally, I want to be really clear that the above is friendly feedback. I deeply appreciate @CTmagazine & @ivpress, the categories of both "Missions/Global Church" % "Politics and Public Life," & all of the authors in both.
Really honored to see Faithful Disobedience listed as a finalist in the @CTmagazine book awards. It was certainly a labor of love & it means a lot this week - the 5 year anniversary of his arrest.
But, I've also been pondering the categorization & want to say a couple things. 🧵
I haven't read Steve Pardue's book yet. But we def have much further to go in actually bringing the global church into our textual communities & integrating their theologies. Political theology, the cultural mandate, etc. are not exclusively North American/UK/European topics.
