Autism: I need a predictable job.
ADHD: I need a stimulating job.
AuDHD: I need a predictable job that is also stimulating and structured but creative and stable but surprising in the good way only
@skithwen@archaeologyart I believe the R in ER and VR stands for Regina, queen in Latin, whereas the R in CR stands for Rex, meaning king. Just convenient both Latin words begin with the same letter.
@hiccuptruck@margeemargz@fatfabfeminist Of course they do, neurodivergent people aren't aliens so of course both NT & ND people have similar traits - they're human traits. It's the frequency and impact of misreading cues that makes it a disability.
@hiccuptruck@margeemargz@fatfabfeminist No matter how good we get at reading faces and body language, it's never going to be second nature as it is for a neurotypical person. Almost like it's a disability. Also, lots of us are good at reading faces and body language but not which cues we're supposed to *not* see...
@livingwithdan@AutisticCallum_ Absolutely, and same here unfortunately. When you've burnt out from unnoticed sustained overexertion you don't have an answer when they ask what caused the burn out, because it didn't look difficult to them.
If you think an autistic person is "dense" because they asked you clarifying questions, I hate to break it to you, but they needed to ask follow up questions because you didn't explain yourself well enough. Not because they have comprehension issues.
Hope that helps 🙃
@paleonormie I want to know where the second class fridge with all the branded packaging that holds the juice that wouldn't fit in the aesthetic containers is.
You know what has actually disappeared? The support structure to train someone to master the craft.
This goes for almost all things. Yes, including engineering and design jobs.
Everyone wants masters but no one wants to train apprentices.
