This is very personal for me to share.
My biological mother was a stripper working at a club in downtown Seattle. My biological father was one of her clients. She became pregnant with me while struggling with addiction and used drugs throughout her pregnancy. When I was born, I was immediately taken to the ICU to detox and was eventually placed for adoption.
By God’s grace, I was adopted by two wonderful parents who loved me deeply. I was four months old when they picked me up from the orphanage, and they are the only parents I’ve ever known. I never grew up feeling like something was missing. I never felt some deep longing to find my biological parents. I had a mom and dad who loved me, cared for me, sacrificed for me, and gave me a wonderful home.
Years later, after I got married and we had our first child, my wife encouraged me to learn more about my biological history. If for no other reason, she thought it might be good for the sake of our daughter to know whether there was anything medically or genetically significant in my family history.
So I eventually submitted my DNA to Ancestry. Through that, I discovered a half brother, aunts, cousins, and eventually was put in contact with my biological mother.
We were able to meet.
And when I met her, I got to tell her something I’d wanted to tell her for as long as I could remember: thank you.
Thank you for giving me life.
I got to tell her about the wonderful parents who adopted me. I got to tell her that I’d had a good life. I got to tell her about my wife and my children. I wanted her to know that the baby she carried in the middle of all that chaos became a man with a family, a calling, people he loves, people who love him, and a life for which he is profoundly grateful.
I’ve never been angry with her. Never. Not once.
For years I told my wife and children that if my biological mother ever found me, I knew exactly what I would say. I wouldn’t condemn her. I wouldn’t demand explanations. I’d simply thank her for allowing me to live.
Because without that decision, I wouldn’t have the extraordinary wife I have today. I wouldn’t know the indescribable joy of my children. I wouldn’t have experienced the friendships, ministry, laughter, sorrow, beauty, failures, victories, and ordinary moments that have made up my life. There are people I love who wouldn’t know me, children who wouldn’t exist, and a story that never would’ve been written.
She gave me the chance to live it.
We still stay in contact. We speak every few months, and I genuinely enjoy hearing her stories and learning about her life. Since the day I met her, I’ve prayed that the Lord would bring her to Himself. I still pray that.
I share all of this because lately I’ve been thinking a great deal about the choices parents make. About life and death. About how much hangs in the balance of decisions made in moments of fear, desperation, darkness, or confusion.
And yes, I’ve been thinking about those three little children whose lives were taken by the very person entrusted with protecting them. It’s difficult for me not to think about my own story alongside theirs. Their lives mattered. Their futures mattered. Everything they might’ve become, everyone they might’ve loved, every ordinary Tuesday morning and Christmas morning and wedding and child and friendship that might’ve filled the decades ahead of them mattered.
And it makes me profoundly grateful that my mother chose differently.
So if there’s a mother or father reading this who’s in a dark place and wondering whether your presence matters, whether your decisions matter, or whether the people who depend on you would somehow be better off without you, please hear me: your choices matter more than you can see from where you’re standing.
Choose life.
Don’t make an irreversible decision in the middle of a season that will pass. Don’t allow a moment of darkness to make a permanent decision about a future you can’t yet see.
Trust the Lord. Ask for help.
@ScolaidhDays Nothing upsets a weak man more than a woman who makes him feel his cowardice. This is as true of supposed iconoclasts who live in terror of losing the approval of the in-crowd as it is of domestic abusers.
What people in America, and in the West in general, must understand about Islam is that Muslims, by definition, are separatists. Though they may live among you, they will never live alongside you. By "alongside you" I mean ideologically. Which is to say, they will never share your values—ever. Islamic values are rooted in the Qur'an—period. To Muslims, the U.S. Constitution is merely a tool they use to live a separatist existence on American soil under the pretense of "freedom of religion" and "freedom of speech." For Muslims, their "Constitution" is Sharia. That is why they do not assimilate. To the contrary, in fact. For Muslims, their very presence dictates that you must adapt to and accommodate their way of life, not the other way around (just look at what's going on in western Europe right now, particularly in Ceuta, Spain). Islam is not a religion. It has never been a religion and America must stop treating it as one. As Dr. Christine Schirrmacher declares in her book Political Islam: When Faith Turns Out to Be Politics: "Political Islam pursues a political agenda which cannot be reconciled with the basic principles of democracy, due process, and individual civil rights and liberties." Simply put, Islam is a demonic and demented political worldview grounded in sexual perversion and death. The West must never "submit" to it.
The same people who justified Charlie Kirk’s murder over his beliefs now demand mercy for Lindsey Clancy after she killed her children.
Condemn the innocent. Excuse the guilty.
Isaiah warned us: “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil.”
Islam—a worldview that allows men to murder their children.
Feminism—a worldview that allows women to murder their children.
Can I interest you in Christianity—a worldview in which parents protect and nurture their children instead?
We need to get these psychiatrist quacks out of the court system entirely. It's an absolute farce that a person can commit murder and then the defense can drag in a bunch of random psychiatrists to perform some retroactive mind reading stunt and tell us what was going on inside the consciousness of the killer at the time of the crime as if he has the slightest clue at all. There is no "expert" on the face of the planet that has the supernatural ability to peer back in time and examine the unspoken thoughts of another human being. You might as well let the defense present evidence from astrologists and fortune tellers. Total joke. This country really needs to get over its completely unwarranted reverence for psychiatrists. These people are just making shit up as they go.
If Lindsay Clancy is found innocent because hormones made her emotionally unstable, women better be very careful celebrating that verdict.
Because the law loves PRECEDENT.
From that day forward, every job application is going to have a new question:
“Are you currently hormonal?”
“Well, I’m a woman.”
“Thank you. I think we’ll be going in another direction.”
You can’t carry a weapon anymore. No female police officers. Sorry, but we cannot hand a loaded gun to somebody whose legal defense might eventually be, “My hormones were acting up.”
No more high-stress jobs, either. No air-traffic controllers. No surgeons. No nuclear-launch codes. One bad hot flash and boom 💥 Canada is glowing.
And women definitely can’t be judges. How can you decide whether somebody else is emotionally stable when your own gender just established in court that hormones can make you kill three people?
No female politicians, either. You can’t be trusted to run the country if, according to your own argument, your endocrine system occasionally takes over the government.
And custody hearings are going to change overnight.
The judge will say, “Ordinarily, children belong with their mother. However, according to the Lindsay Clancy precedent, she may be only one hormone away from a Netflix documentary. The children go with Dad.”
Dad doesn’t know their shoe sizes, the pediatrician’s name or which one is allergic to peanuts, but his testosterone has never been successfully used as an insanity defense.
Feminists spent a hundred years saying women are not hysterical, irrational creatures controlled by their biology and one defense attorney walks into court and says, “Ladies and gentlemen of the jury… have you considered the uterus?”
You cannot demand equal authority and then ask for discounted accountability.
If women want equal rights, great. But equal rights come with equal wrongs.
Otherwise, that glass ceiling is about to become a padded ceiling.
I am a radical environmentalist and here is why I support this:
My family used to have a cabin bordering national forest in California. The loggers built and maintained an extensive dirt road network that you could ride a quad on for 60 miles and never see anyone else. The logging was selective and done in a way that kept the forest healthy.
When this was restricted, the road and trail network fell into disrepair and you couldn’t get a pickup into the back country. The pine beetle came for the trees, which left a lot of standing fuel for the wildfires, which couldn’t be fought because there was no longer a backcountry dirt road network.
The fires were so intense because of the fuel load that they scarred the land. There was no grow back or burst of flowers the spring after. Just a dead bare mountain that could no longer support the wild life that once flourished there. All thanks to bad federal policy that is now being addressed.
Humans are a part of Nature not apart from Nature. Common sense dictates that we reject the mindset of both the greedy developer and the unhinged restrictionist. We need common sense radical environmentalism.
Not 4B years, thousands of species appeared during the Cambrian period, a period-always shrinking btw-of about 8M years. Most with no ancestors.
Curiously the detractors to Darwin in the 1850’s had identical arguments as today, they said the fossil record is clear and it does not show his single source evolution. Darwin countered that in the future we would find the missing links and further soft tissue did not leave fossils. Both are untrue.
There should be a law that anyone who is found not guilty of murder because of insanity, should have to spend the remainder of their days locked in an asylum. No exceptions. None at all. If you're too crazy to refrain from homicide, you're too crazy to be free.
The shock you are feeling reading Genesis is completely normal, but it points to the most important rule of reading Scripture: the Bible is brutally descriptive, not automatically prescriptive.
When Genesis records Lot’s daughters sleeping with their father, it is not offering a moral blueprint or endorsing incest. It is recording the horrific reality of human depravity in a broken family fleeing a ruined city. The Bible refuses to sanitize our ancestors. It gives you humanity unvarnished, with all its rot, betrayal, and violence laid bare.
The Bible is the story of God’s supreme condescension. God did not sit in heaven with folded arms, waiting for humanity to civilize itself before He stepped into our story. He entered the mud of history exactly where we were, working through deeply flawed people over centuries to pull us toward light.
When Jesus was questioned about Old Testament divorce laws, He exposed this exact dynamic. He told them that Moses permitted certain concessions because their hearts were hardened, but from the beginning it was not so.
The Old Testament records God managing the baseline reality of a primitive, broken world, while progressively leading humanity toward the ultimate standard.
That standard is Jesus Christ. In Scripture, Abraham, Moses, and David are not the moral finish line; they are broken men in need of mercy. Jesus alone is the full and spotless revelation of God’s character.
Look at how He lived: He stepped into a first-century world where slavery, violence, and the subjugation of the weak were culturally acceptable, yet He participated in none of it. He owned no slaves, took no lives, exploited no one, and commanded His followers to love their enemies.
This is the fundamental contrast with Islam.
The Bible records the moral failures of its figures as an indictment of human nature, pointing forward to Christ who redeems us from them. Islam does the opposite: it takes a seventh-century tribal leader and declares his historical conduct; slave-owning, military conquest, taking captives of war, and marrying a child, to be the timeless, unalterable moral ideal for all mankind.
What the Bible exposes as human sin needing redemption, the Quran canonizes as divine precedent.
Coming from a 12-step background, this should actually make profound sense. The first step is taking a fearless moral inventory, facing the full extent of human powerlessness and brokenness without sugarcoating it. Genesis gives you the diagnosis of human nature so that by the time you meet Christ in the Gospels, you understand exactly why we needed a Savior.
Call me a radical but if we want America to be exceptional, then taxpayers who fund all the welfare should have more of a say in our elections than lifelong welfare users. Call me whatever you want but I think it’s nuts to give these two groups the same voting power. One group will always just vote for the person or party that promises them the most "free" stuff that the rest of us pay for.
It’s weird how dog training is all about teaching impulse control, but parenting isn’t.
In puppy kindergarten class we hold a treat out for the puppy, then close our fist. We wait for the puppy to stop harassing us for the treat; the moment he looks away or ideally looks up at us, the hand opens and puppy gets the treat.
Opening the crate or the car door, they have to learn to wait until they look at us and we say it’s ok.
The entire class is more about developing self-control and emotional regulation than anything else. They don’t even get to socialize with each other!
It’s widely understood that an anxious or nervous or overly energetic puppy needs more training and probably a job to do.
Meanwhile, parents leave a toddler alone with some M&Ms and judge the kid’s personality based on whether they eat them or not. There’s no training them to delay gratification or develop self-control.
We train our puppies better than our children.
A politician needs to say this. If the Public School system gives society illiterate children in exchange for $44,000 per student per year, then the entire system should be obliterated, and handed to the private sector for competence and results.
