Tragic: Nateal Campbell, the mother of #Ravens DE Calais Campbell, was found dead inside her Atlanta home on Tuesday.

His brother, Ciarre Campbell, has since been charged with murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm or knife.

She was 71. Thoughts are with the Campbell family.

I was convinced flavored charcoal was just another gimmick… until dinner proved me wrong.

After watching people throw loose seasonings and onions directly onto hot coals, I figured the trend was more hype than flavor.

So I tried the easier route instead: flavor-infused charcoal.

To keep the test honest, the chicken got nothing fancy—just salt, pepper, and a light sprinkle of paprika. No heavy rubs. No sauce. If the charcoal made a difference, there'd be nowhere to hide.

The result surprised me.

The smoke smelled incredible from the start, and the garlic, onion, and paprika came through as a subtle, savory layer without the harsh, bitter taste you can get from burning loose spices on the coals.

It's not a replacement for good seasoning or proper grilling technique. It's simply another way to build flavor.

Sometimes the simplest upgrades end up making the biggest difference.

This one earned a spot at my next cookout.
