IMPORTANT THREAD; Itโs come to our attention that there have been incidents of a minority of people flushing, playing bird song & disturbing the #WarrenFarm wryneck these last few days for photos. Pls take note; here are the reasons why these behaviours can be harmful...
As exciting as it is to have the chance to see this beautiful rare bird, pls can we ask - be mindful & respect its space & presence, putting the interests of the wryneck first. It is a photo for you but it could be the difference between life & death for the wryneck. Thank you ๐
@johnshunt1@MarkBravery The wryneck will be Scandinavian & needs as much time feeding as it can get to lay down fat for the next migration which will take it to Iberia. If everybody flushed him out during his time here it would lessen his chances, itโs just something we donโt want to encourage. ๐๐ฟ
@johnshunt1@MarkBravery Great photos @johnshunt1 thank you for sharing them with us. Pls can we ask you & others not to flush the wryneck out. As exciting as it is to have such a rare bird here & we understand the desire to photograph it pls allow it to feel safe. He likes to be sneaky but he will show!
@Rob_Mule@kooperthequick@LondonBirdClub .@Rob_Mule Thereโs a small car park on Windmill Lane where you can walk up the drive. Or you can park near The Fox Pub on Green Lane and cross the canal / train track / gate climb (sounds a lot but takes 5mins!). Last option is to park on Trumperโs Way & cross said train track ๐๐ป
Not sure I will get a lifer in a cooler environment. Warren Farm Wryneck showed well between 4-5am thanks to @PaulHdigiman for the refind. #londonbirds@HanwellNature
