To splice or not to splice? Ever wonder how missplicing in stem and progenitor cells affect tissue homeostasis, well we got you covered! Beyond excited to share our new work on the role of SR proteins in the maintenance and homeostasis of two fast-cycling epithelial organs.A ๐งต๐
This year @SACNAS#NDiSTEM conference is in #PuertoRico! Attending 10 yrs ago was life-changing, 1st time I was in a space that celebrated my identities, culture, community, & science equally. Join me in donating to give students that chance! https://t.co/Dr1RvOYiUF

Also, truly grateful for all the people that participated on this body of work @OphirKlein@TheBrooksLab @Stephenfloor @adyaverma1001 and others not on twitter.
We identified four Srsf1-specific targets critical for the homeostasis of epithelial stem/progenitor cells. Missplicing of these targets by the loss of Srsf1 or using antisense oligos, to mimic the observed exon-skipping, results in activation of the p53/p21 signaling pathway!
@pabloguzman_@Dev_journal@pabloguzman_ , great question! and short answer is that the role of SLITS in this process is currently being investigated in the Hinck Lab, and whether SLITs have specific roles or act redundantly given that both Slit2 and Slit3 are expressed in the mammary gland epithelium.

Beyond excited to share part of my graduate work that got published in @Dev_journal. Thankful for my incredible graduate advisor Lindsay Hinck, and the support from @IIBSC_UCSC and @stemdiv throughout my graduate career. https://t.co/U5VnXjM168
Felicidades to @astroenrico for the @SACNAS Distinguish Mentor Award. Truly a role model not only as an incredible scientist but also as a terrific mentor and advocate for inclusion and equity in science. Gracias for being such an inspiration to our community #NDiSTEM2021@UCSC
Wonderful session at #NDiSTEM2021 talking about visibility and invisibility for students and faculty with disabilities in STEM. Thank you for sharing your experiences @DisabledStem@Happy_Biologist@codebiologist @shaimgo and Dr. Gabi Serrano Marks!
