Somalia and Denmark are strengthening their partnership to advance climate finance priorities, reinforcing Somalia’s strategic position in the UN Security Council. This collaboration highlights a shared commitment to tackling climate challenges through global cooperation.

Through this partnership, $40M in Danish climate support via the World Bank will be fast-tracked: $20M for the Barwaqo Project, $4M for MoECC capacity, and $16M to be allocated after the World Bank Climate Change and Development Report (CCDR).

MoECC will enhance donor coordination to align climate funding with national priorities. A follow-up meeting with line ministries and donors, organized through the Embassy of Somalia, will take place in April/May to advance these efforts.

Today in #Baidoa, the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs & Disaster Management SWS, presented one day Training on *Fraud Prevention” with humanitarian agencies operating in Southwest State.

With generous support from @OxfamSomali the session focused on fraud prevention alongside a presentation of the "Sareguarding of Humanitarian Aid" bill recently endorsed by the SWS Cabinet.

As the year comes to an end, the Ministry and the Humanitarian agencies took the opportunity to extend gratitude to @shf_somalia and @UNCERF for their continued funding support to vulnerable communities in South West State and reaffirmed commitment to ensure the resources reach the intended beneficiaries.

Two days of productive Pre-COP meetings concluded today in Baku, Azerbaijan. Pre-COP was an important opportunity to make progress against the top negotiating priorities before parties come together for the conference in November. The COP29 Presidency team thanks delegates, constituencies, partner agencies, and other stakeholders for their valuable contributions to climate action this week.
