Excited to share two PhD opportunities on "How biofilms protect themselves against bacteriophage infection and how they fail" and "Shaping evolution by varying antibiotics in space and time". Detailed descriptions to follow next week, but see below:
I can’t say enough great things about @CABmicrobe! Amazing science and fun people. Super excited to get started on new collaborations.
Thank you @mrebolleda, @jandraRV, @anaelena2777, Eria Rebollar and all the others that made this happen.
Are you interested in how microbial communities assemble & function in real-life environments (e.g., the ocean, ground beneath our feet, animal hosts)? We are hosting a workshop on the topic in January with an amazing lineup of speakers. Spread the word!

Ruth G. Shaw of @UMNews is being inducted as a member of the National Academy of Sciences for research on wild plant populations, providing key insights into the evolutionary processes affecting fitness. Watch the #NAS159 livestream: https://t.co/0zCkfmdcLd
New preprint from our lab by Andrea Dos Santos, @rita_dimarti and Samuele Testa https://t.co/KOg22GmQX4 We present guidelines on how to design spent media assays to map out the interactions between bacterial species (1/5)
New paper dropped from @monicamercedez and me! Always a fun time talking about mechanisms of diversification, and even more fun when a postdoc in your group comes up with an extremely clever way to do the (computational) experiment!

It is a pleasure to announce that @s_hammarlund has successfully defended her doctoral dissertation.
It was fantastic to get to work with Dr. Hammarlund.
(a picture from a pre-pandemic time that seems appropriate)
@s_hammarlund She also investigated methods to reduce inequity by improving students’ sense of belonging in science classrooms w/ Dr. Cheryl Scott, Dr. Kevin Binning and Dr. @SehoyaCotner.
Our paper on microbial community coalescence is finally out today, from co-1st authors @jdiazc9@aliciasangor and Nanxi Lu. It grew from a preprint we posted a while back, now with additional experiments and a fair amount of new theory and simulations.

Looking for a postdoc position? Are you a theoretician interested in how microbes interact and co-evolve? Join our interdisciplinary group in beautiful Lausanne! The topic is flexible. More detail and to apply: https://t.co/ecwsTdMknF
Postdoc available to study evolutionary ecology of microbe-mediated adaptation. @NSF-funded project looking for candidate with bioinformatics to analyze shotgun metagenomic with @JenLauEvoEco@evanssarahe. Application: https://t.co/iH2lhiQnW4. Please share.
New! Computational post-doc position available in the #ShadeLab, in collaboration w/ @rmackelprang@csunorthridge, to work on #NSFfunded permafrost metagenomics
