New consoles are probably pushed back to 2027 or 2028. The RAM shortage is also hurting desktop builds and upgrades while laptops are equipped with less RAM.
Steam evidently does not check games to be sure they are error free. If a game does not work, right click on the game icon or link and select properties. Select installed files and chose verify integrity.

RAM prices have gone berserk as the AI bubble gets blown way out of proportion. SSD prices have also jumped and now hard disks have risen however demand for hard disks has not been growing much.
Once DDR3 came out 4GB and 8GB memory sticks brought 64-bit into its own as machines could have far beyond the constraints of 32-bit. This is why I used 64-bit Windows XP, Vista and beyond.
Even back as far as when Windows 2000 shipped the need for more memory than 32-bit addressing could handle. Intel came up with physical address extension which allowed some machines to use 8GB of memory.
Windows XP x64 gave everyone the first platform for supporting 4GB or 8GB RAM. When DDR2 was available some machines could have 4GB in a laptop and 8GB in a desktop.
