- Delayed screen exposure — often no screens before age 10–12

- Social media banned or aggressively restricted
- Emphasis on physical, tactile, and outdoor education

Meanwhile, these same executives’ companies spend billions on engagement algorithms, infinite scroll, autoplay, and notification systems designed by behavioral psychologists to maximize kids’ screen time.

The most quoted example: Steve Jobs himself — the man who gave us the iPhone — told New York Times journalist Nick Bilton that he strictly limited his own children’s use of the device. “We limit how much technology our kids use at home,” he said. The people with the most intimate knowledge of how these products are engineered to exploit dopamine pathways and psychological vulnerabilities are the ones most aggressively insulating their own children from them. The exact headcount of tech oligarchs at screen-free private schools fluctuates year to year, but the trend is durable and spans at least 15 years now. The richest, most informed parents in the world vote with their wallets to keep their kids away from the products they sell to yours.
