Cake in a drain while citizens continue to drown in administrative apathy!

In Agra, a BJP corporator celebrated his birthday by cutting a cake while standing in a sewage drain—ironically, the same drain where more than 30 people have reportedly lost their lives over the years due to negligence, poor maintenance, and incomplete construction.

If this is not a symbol of governance failure, what is?

Citizens don’t need photo-ops in drains. They need safe infrastructure, timely desilting, accountability, and action. Sadly, in our system, tragedies are forgotten faster than birthdays are celebrated.

आज मा. प्रभारी मंत्री जी एवं उ.प्र. सरकार के सहकारिता विभाग के राज्य मंत्री (स्वतंत्र प्रभार) श्री जे. पी. एस. राठौर जी ने तहसील सम्भल के ग्राम शेरखां सराय में श्रीमती रुक्मन रस्तोगी पत्नी स्वर्गीय सुभाष चन्द्र रस्तोगी को 100 वर्गमीटर भूमि का पट्टाभिलेख प्रदान किया। इस अवसर पर वैदिक मंत्रोच्चारण एवं पूजा-अर्चना के साथ भवन निर्माण हेतु भूमि पूजन एवं नींव रखी गई।
कार्यक्रम में @Comm_Moradabad श्री आंजनेय कुमार सिंह जी @DmSambhal अंकित खण्डेलवाल, #SPSambhal कृष्ण कुमार बिश्नोई, भाजपा जिलाध्यक्ष श्री हरेन्द्र सिंह रिंकू जी प्राचीन क्षेमनाथ तीर्थ के महंत श्री बालयोगी दीनानाथ जी महाराज सहित अन्य जनप्रतिनिधि एवं अधिकारी उपस्थित रहे। वर्ष 1978 के दंगों में अपनी जान गंवाने वाले स्वर्गीय रामशरण रस्तोगी के परिजन रुक्मन रस्तोगी एवं कपिल रस्तोगी ने भी वैदिक रीति-रिवाजों के अनुसार भूमि पूजन किया।
उल्लेखनीय है कि वर्ष 1978 के साम्प्रदायिक दंगों में रामशरण रस्तोगी की हत्या हो गई थी। उनके पुत्र सुभाष चन्द्र रस्तोगी द्वारा उस समय प्राथमिकी दर्ज कराई गई थी, किन्तु उन्हें न्याय नहीं मिल सका। इसके बाद परिवार सम्भल से पलायन कर गया था। गत वर्ष उनके पौत्र कपिल रस्तोगी अपनी वृद्ध माता के साथ मा. मुख्यमंत्री श्री योगी आदित्यनाथ जी से मिले थे। मा. मुख्यमंत्री जी के निर्देशों के अनुपालन में तत्कालीन जिलाधिकारी द्वारा मृतक की पुत्रवधु रुक्मन रस्तोगी को ग्राम शेरखां सराय (बाहर चुंगी) में आवासीय प्रयोजन हेतु 100 वर्गमीटर भूमि आवंटित की गई। @CMOfficeUP @UPGovt @ChiefSecyUP @InfoDeptUP @Comm_Moradabad

Well frankly speaking, Hon. @narendramodi Ji, it is time India adopts a transparent & balanced national approach towards emerging energy security challenges rather than placing disproportionate pressure on petroleum dealerships.

India already imports nearly 90% of its crude oil requirement, making the nation highly vulnerable to geopolitical disruptions, freight volatility & global price shocks. Multiple recent reports have highlighted rising import dependence, stress on OMCs, and the growing pressure on fuel supply economics. (Reuters)

At present, #OMCs are issuing notices and showcause actions against dealerships for bulk sales — whether to farmers, transporters or genuine consumers — while dealers are simultaneously expected to maintain uninterrupted supply, absorb customer outrage, infuse additional working capital during price spikes, and survive on shrinking operational viability.

This dual pressure is neither sustainable nor equitable.

If India is entering a phase of fuel conservation, supply optimisation or strategic energy balancing, then the same should be communicated transparently to the public through a structured national advisory instead of creating fear and uncertainty at dealership level.

Possible national measures worth considering:

• Public fuel conservation awareness campaigns
• Promotion of Strong Hybrids, Flex-Fuel, Ethanol & EV transition
• Rational operational optimisation for fuel outlets nationwide
• Incentives for reduced wastage & efficient fuel consumption
• Strategic buffer & emergency preparedness communication
• Policy clarity on bulk fuel sales to avoid arbitrary harassment

Dealers cannot be treated as both the shock absorbers of global energy volatility and the easiest targets for enforcement simultaneously.

A transparent policy framework, consumer awareness & coordinated national energy strategy will serve India far better than selective punitive action on dealerships struggling to balance compliance, consumer expectations & survival.

How many more decades of "seeking comments" are required before the law is actually enforced? This administrative lethargy is causing a massive revenue churn and leaving 1 lakh+ retail outlets in a legal vacuum.
It is time to stop the diversions and start the verification of UGTs as measures. Let the rule of law prevail over this professional apathy.
