🇪🇺 The EU just passed Chat Control 1.0 in Brussels.
Platforms can now scan your private messages again, officially "voluntary," in practice blanket surveillance.
Here's the democratic scandal: 314 MEPs voted against it. Only 276 voted for it.
It passed anyway... because an absolute majority of all MEPs was required to reject it, not just a majority of those present.
More people voted no than yes. It still passed.
Pushed through on an urgent procedure just before summer recess, when absences are highest and attention is lowest.
This is how rights disappear folks. Not in one dramatic moment, but in procedural fine print, on a slow news day, while everyone's looking at Tehran.

this is absolutely insane
- the UK now proposes scanning of all PRIVATE content on user devices or *jail* (for the execs) of device companies
^ recall how the french already arrested pavel earlier this year
- this is on a *device level* -- meaning you can not even use the phone freely *unless you literally KYC* -- does not matter which apps you use
- on top of this, they will require *another* KYC submission on the app-level to access certain apps
so this would mandate both device-level and app-level surveillance
this is the most draconian shit I have seen in tech yet
AURA.
@Shizukougames Actual answer is probably Link or Mario though, most of my childhood games were racing games
If you count cars, the BMW M3 GTR from NFS Most Wanted.
Japan, just copy what Steam did for games but for anime. Make a platform neutral to all companies they can distribute on. Instead of mod support, have fansub support to turn former pirate groups into allies.
Whoever does this will make ten trillion dollars.
My BIGGEST problem is that I want to be politically informed but I would also like to have a good day and be happy, and those are mutually exclusive things apparently.
