@CaitlynHoffman9@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I agree that something so innocent can remind us how young both characters are! Throughout the book, Victor gains so much wisdom from different people that we forget that he is just a kid himself soaking everything in like a sponge.
@haallleeeeee@VVAWTER@JoyceGulley I think this quote just shows how mature Victor is. Back then, most people were is horror with the idea of everyone going to the same school. In the book there was even an example of people saying they would move before everyone could go together. I agree with abbey as well!
@briiiannabrooks@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I agree that the paper route helped him grow into the person he was at the end of the book! Throughout the book we see glimps of him changing and I agree that the biggest moment was when we finally said his name. I agree that this was my favorite book of the semester.
@gb01_@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I agree with you! Today there are so many shows about cops, as well as actors that play cops in shows/movies and may exaggerate what happens. I think this can be a tool to use to show students that just because it is on TV, doesn't mean it's true or factual.
@megnewt11@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER Me too! I was so worried about what was going to happen to all of the characters, even Ara T! I think this is one event that changed Little Man from who he was at the beginning of the book to who he was at the end.
I was so proud of Victor when he stood up and said his name. From disliking his name because he stutters saying it, to being confident enough to stand up and say it in front of his whole class just shows how much he has grown over the book. #paperboypart3@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER
@megnewt11@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER It also made me nervous that Mrs. Worthington cancelled her newspaper. I hope everything is okay with her. You can tell Little Man cares about her and also worries about her.
@haleyannrobert @JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I also noted this quote as well. I also thought it was super sweet! It is a good life lesson to never judge because you have no idea what people are going through.
@RZellerino I agree that it is important for every kid to have a friend like Mam to look up to! Being able to go to someone and know they will be there for you through the good and the bad is important. I also enjoyed reading the different things Little Man and Mam got to do together.
@CaitlynHoffman9@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER Yes! Very too often children just repeat words heard from others without any knowledge of what the meaning is behind the word. I think that it is important to know the meaning behind a word before using it, and important to never put anyone down.
@EnglertTatum@VVAWTER@JoyceGulley I agree! Teachers have to be aware that outside experiences can shape the way kids behave in the classroom. Remembering that we will never know the full story of what someone is going through is always important and we should look for other possibilities like you stated to help.
"Two kids don't have to say words because they can say all they need to sometimes with their smiles (P.165)." We can take away that smiling at someone impacts them more than we know. We can never fully know what someone else is going through. @JoyceGulley@VVAWTER#PAPERBOYPART2
@briiiannabrooks@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I also appreciate the way Mr. Spiro talks to Victor! While reading, I felt that no question was a dumb one in Mr. Spiro's eyes. This is an important lesson to teach children because they will be encouraged to ask questions and ask for help when needed.
@AbbeyD315@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I noted this sentence as well! I agree that we should strive to be like Mr. Spiro. He also moves his crates around frequently which shows he is still learning every day.
@JoyceGulley@hurstthailey@VVAWTER I did once when I was in elementary school! My dad's friend had one and let me type on it one evening while we were at his house.
@kaayladam@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I agree that Little Man is lucky to have Rat and Mam in this life! Everyone deserves to have that kind of friendship and love in their life.
@haallleeeeee@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I would ask many questions like Little Man does, but one of my questions would be who was his inspiration growing up and also ask how he learned to communicate with young people so well.
@haallleeeeee@JoyceGulley@VVAWTER I was also really interested in that part! Vince Vawter also made it a point to make "Student" in a bigger font. I thought that was the nice tough to draw readers to the word.
