@taraji_bsw @praeteritia @mom_of_littles @MrsCMFrancis I do! It’s both. Personally, I do fine in school off of my meds. I’ve gotten one C in my entire life. But out of school/work I struggle a lot. Taking medication helps with ease of decision making and my energy levels.

@kuperov @mom_of_littles I think it does matter. I did horribly in public school, I started losing my personality. I did better being homeschooled, but once I was diagnosed and medicated at almost 17, my life changed drastically for the better. Even my grandmother comments on how much better I am.

People with ADHD don’t process dopamine the same way as normal people, which leads to the difficulty focusing that is most characteristic of it. Taking stimulants (eg, Adderall) ups the amount of dopamine available and helps us function.

My parents homeschooled my brother and I because being in public school made us depressed and suicidal. We learned from our parents, grandparents, our community, and the internet. I have an almost 4.0 gpa in college.

Louisiana was part of France before being annexed. Most states were part of another country before joining the US.
