@thewookie34@JamieMoranUK Yes, but that is part of the issue. The PS Trophy system is built around it, achieving and displaying it. Xbox was first, but this was something people wanted as a dedicated element.
@Colteastwood@eurogamer I don't believe in the Xbox tax per se, but approaching every single Xbox topic through the lens of the layoffs, even when it makes no sense, demonstrates a lack of perspective.
@EmperorKermit@TayyDreams@kidsmoove Objective standards don't have much value. Preferences define everything. A consistent 30 fps is objective, but if that feels good or bad is relative. 720p was very clear in 2001, it is very not in 2026. The resolution itself is objective, but the rest is open to interpretation.
@JeremyPenter@dark1x That's the struggle though, if you only really use it when it is ready you still have to take a gen to understand it and from a tech perspective it is a lot of R&D without income or the experience of seeing what actually works, what developers need etc.
@GameOverThirty Do you think that part of the issue with Game Pass and even the directives to teams was the slowly growing, almost insidious idea that they had time to wait for the perfect game, the perfect idea? All these studios with almost nothing to show for nearly a decade.
@GameOverThirty@jdchicagogaming Do we actually have clarity on the payment process? The metrics? It seems like even studio heads are a little unsure and unhappy with it or am I conflating issues?
@GameOverThirty They didn't believe in that soft cap though, they believed in the value to such an extent that they were willing to lose until they... inevitably won. I think they even believed the more they spent, the bigger the windfall when things turned their way. Execution was abysmal too.
@G27Status It is so interesting to me to see how it was played for so many. Kind of fits into the nonsense drama about the BG3 3rd person mod, but Dragon Age Origins is an old school isometric CRPG to me.
@Shpeshal_Nick@Nick_Marseil The weapon combos make a real difference, but on average Halo time to kill is just much longer than most games today.
I don't agree with his assessment, but not everyone is going to love Halo and some of the aspects that made Halo great the market moved away from over time.
@Colteastwood@Mr_Rebs_ Halo CE in 2026 is not as good as it was in 2001. Better technicals in every way only brings it to roughly what it was at that time technically. For many the rest of Halo did not age nearly as well. There are also real problems with the remake presentation. Mileage may vary.
@dark1x@kiwitalkz It's tough because the sentiment is real, but if something is truly lost then the the time, effort and motivating emotion could be better spent elsewhere. Cutting off your nose, to spite your face so to speak. There are likely better ways to fight and even better battlefields.
@GenePark As someone who wants physical as well, I think people will yell back when someone else yells loudly.
And there is a lot of antagonizing on the physical side. Lots of yelling not just about the importance of physical, but the failure or lack of intelligence of those who care less
@TheActMan_YT@IGN As a source of news? This isn't an opinion piece. IGN is reporting that he said it. I am as disillusioned with IGN as the next person, probably more, but reporting what the head of a publisher thinks is relevant.
If anything making it clear who he is hurts the pro Sony argument.
@JezCorden@eXtas1stv Quite a few JRPGs are obnoxiously large, but actually gave you a lot of interesting or valuable things to do that is far more involved than anytbing you find in Eldenring, but I also wouldn't classify as checklist fodder either.
@EmperorKermit@TayyDreams@kidsmoove A review which is just a set of facts, which the reader or viewer has to decide how to interpret is not helpful because it needs to be interpreted through the game.
And honestly that still isn't that objective. That more objective you get the less useful at the time of review.
