After not receiving a raise in the four years I’ve worked at BHIS they’ve now decided to reduce my pay by $40k after coming back from maternity leave and moving my role to solely pentesting. So I am looking for a new position effective immediately if anyone has any leads 😇
@techspence Oh 100% agreed, if I changed jobs and was at a less mature org there are like a 100 other controls I would implement first before DLp beyond baby's first DLP controls that come with M365
@techspence That's a good point. Like I said in my original reply, it's just one thing. I believe as part of the friction control stuff such as CASBs, application whitelisting, network control via something like SASE are also needed parts or else people will find easier ways.
@techspence That's why I think it's more of a dimishing return. I think at a certain point you are wasting money. However to a certain point there is ROE imo. I think it also depends on the verticals you work in. I primarily live in FIs and the DIB so my perceived value lies with that exp
@techspence I agree that people take the path of least resistance, my opinion has always been that the "proper" way of doing something in a business needs to be as low friction as possible and the "incorrect" way needs to have added friction to try and encourage proper tool usage
@techspence I think we are basically saying the same thing in that it's not a security tool, I just think it's a needed part in a regulated environment from stopping the dumb mistakes from honest people.
