As shown, tenzin kids whom grown in an air temple and learn of their cultural heritage and way of thought makes them pick up airbending easier. As example aang took a long time to learn earth bcuz mindset not compatible

He took an episode to properly move a rock with the help of one of the strongest earthbender to walk and learn firebending with a dragon
