Democracy isn't dying, it's under attack.
My fingers are genetically lazy so I apologize for my spelling.
My opinions are worth 2 cents and not a penny more.
Leftists cant wrap their heads around this. its really a fitting end for their movement.
Unable to separate from their obsession about party politics, and unable to imagine setting down their political rhetoric to vote for something they cant grasp, patriotism.
Vice President Harris: We have to put country before party. Donald Trump tried to undo the will of the people in a free and fair election on January 6. I think people are exhausted with the lies and they're ready to turn the page
Congratulations to Donald Trump on being elected President of the United States.
The friendship between Canada and the U.S. is the envy of the world. I know President Trump and I will work together to create more opportunity, prosperity, and security for both of our nations.
I get the urge to be angry, but it's probably worth noting that Biden literally walked a picket line and bent over backwards to rescue pensions for unions like Teamsters. It did not help their electoral fortunes at all.
The party is likely to move *right* after this, not left
Weโre in Hell
Iโve spent all morning trying to think of more meaningful and graceful words to write, but Iโm at a loss so Iโll just say it: this sucks. We woke up today and found out that Americans are a lot worse people than we always hoped they were. And a psychotic senile extremist criminal is going to be President of the United States (again).
Like the rest of you, I have no explanation for why 2024 saw record high turnout, yet something like twenty million fewer votes than in 2020. There will be abundant theories about this, and there will be a temptation to chase them, but Iโm not sure it matters. The bottom line is that a stunning, jarring number of people were willing to vote for a monster, even after they knew full well that it was a monster. These people are never to be forgiven.
It also needs to be pointed out that the media once again screwed us royally. With a hundred days to go the major media outlets (on both sides) suddenly decided to use dishonest pretenses to force President Biden out of the race, at a time when he was still within the margin of error and was in far better cognitive condition than Trump, simply because the media felt it could get better ratings by forcing Biden out. It forced Kamala Harris to enter the race very late, and while she ran a historically inspiring and incredibly competent campaign, winning on such short notice proved to be unrealistic. The mediaโs dishonest last minute railroading of Biden was a criminal level of election interference on the part of the major media outlets, and they are never to be forgiven either.
If I can offer you one piece of advice right now, itโs to try to take this one day at a time. If you start thinking too far ahead about the worst case scenariosโฆ letโs just say that in times like this itโs vital to keep yourself sane. One day at a time. One fight at a time.
Itโs okay to feel sick to your stomach. I know I do. Right now Iโm thinking in particular of women, minorities, immigrants, and the LGBT community, all of whom are in danger. All I can tell you is that itโs been an honor to fight alongside all of you โ and Iโm going to keep fighting. Whether I want to keep fighting is irrelevant. I have to keep fighting. I have to try. Much hope is lost, but not all hope is lost, and that matters. This is too important to simply give up because things have gotten harder. And I hope youโll ultimately be willing to keep fighting alongside me.
I will say this: I'm old enough to have voted in 2004, and I can't describe how hard I would have laughed if you told me that America was four years from electing a Black guy named Hussein in a landslide.
@KerrAvon4 The Left was given a reason to vote against a black woman who believed in unions and climate change.
Iran gave them that reason and they ignored every piece of policy they say they cared about for a decade.
Bernie's poison was part of both Trump wins.
It also means engagement w/all kinds of social media and podcast forums to be able to talk to people where they're at and 'keep it real'. It's really not that complicated. We will have to swallow a lot of terrible stuff, but Dems should just position themselves to take advantage.
So what's the optimistic take for the Dems in this bleak time? A few thoughts:
1. Dems gained w/whites From -17 to -12, driven by a +10 margin with white college. 2. Black voters didn't move at all. Plug the '24 exit polls into '20 vote share by race demo and Harris wins by +4.
Joe Biden gave a ton of money to poor people, forged a moderate immigration policy, and ended the war in Afghanistan. People didnโt like it. For the first time in many peopleโs lives they are about to see the Democratic Party move right, and they wonโt be able to deny the change
Thank you to everyone who fought so hard to defeat Trump. It was an honor to be in this fight with you. It was a noble fight. We were fighting to defend democracy, the rule of law, decency, & the truth.
Iโm tired. Iโm sad. But the fight will continue. Thank you for all you did.
Staggering class realignment/shift in working class
Harris lost DESPITE major shift of affluent voters her way
2020: Trump wins voters over $100K, 54-52
2024: *Harris* wins voters over $100K, 54-45
2020: Biden wins voters $50K-$100K, 57-42
2024: *Trump* w/ voters $50K-$100K, 49-47
2020: Biden wins voters under $50K, 55-45
2024: Trump massive improvement w/ voters under $50K, 49-48
Donald Trump has no greater friend than the far left, which has managed to alienate historic numbers of Latinos, Blacks, Asians, and Jews from the Democratic Party with absurdities like โDefund the Policeโ or โFrom the River to the Seaโ or โLatinx.โ
There is more to lose than there is to gain politically from pandering to a far left that is more representative of Twitter, Twitch, and TikTok than it is of the real world. The working class is not buying the ivory-towered nonsense that the far left is selling.
Montana, Nevada, Arizona, and Missouri voted for a woman's right to choose while simultaneously voting for the guy who stripped them of that right. Wild times.
