Amazing opportunity to study one of the coolest fishes on the planet, with an amazing group @jeanseb_moore@Matt_JH_Gilbert@bm_hamilton@NBFurey and in the wonderful community of Cambridge Bay. Fun/novel data to explore and freedom to design multi-year studies. Check out the ad!
Postdoc opportunity on Arctic char migrations open for up to 3 years! We're looking to add someone with expertise in acoustic telemetry. Position co-supervised by @jeanseb_moore and @NBFurey. Incredible Arctic fieldwork and flexibility in research questions. Please RT!
Excited to have our recent field study out & on the cover of @J_Exp_Biol ! We demonstrate that warm acclimation of heart rate and temperature tolerance can occur rapidly in wild migrating Arctic char. Done w/ a great team: @middletonella6 @invivoexvivo@jeanseb_moore@HarrisLes
@bm_hamilton@jeanseb_moore @sikugirl @Matt_JH_Gilbert Had a few FB chats today about this but dang it looks like a tiger trout. Obviously not given brookies and browns would not be in the area. Guessing it’s a very cool looking laker with some cool colour action/patterning. A mutation of some type caused this unique colour morph?
New lab paper: telemetry data used in mark recapture models to study impacts of var in sea ice melt date on Arctic Char survival - work by Isabeau Caza-Allard for her undergrad thesis in collab w M. Mazerolle @HarrisLes & many others @ibis_laval@FSGulaval@cen_nord@raq_actu
The first of two papers on the thermal acclimation potential of Arctic char is now out! This one was done at @ZoologyUBC and is focused on cardiac heat tolerance in the context of a rapidly warming Arctic.

Meet the fishes of FISHES! Regional variation in which species we study reflects the regional importance of each species for our local partners and their affiliated #subsistence, #recreational, and #commercial fisheries. We love them all; what is your favourite?
"As an early-career researcher studying the impacts of contaminants... these observations made one thing abundantly clear: #plasticpollution is indeed everywhere." Read more from PhD researcher, @bm_hamilton on plastic pollution in the Canadian #Arctic. https://t.co/OhUfHZJml2
.@Matt_JH_Gilbert is a fantastic young researcher that has accomplished amazing things during his PhD on the cardiorespiratory physiology of migrating Arctic Char in a changing Arctic
