Fantastic to see such engaging discussions in our innovation and new technology workshop #BlueBeltSymposium24 and a lot of interest in sharing knowledge, experience and best practise. #BlueBeltProgramme
Our planet's future depends on the health of our oceans.
The @ukgovbluebelt programme is leading the way, with the world's largest marine protected area network.
This means more space for ocean species to thrive, free from illegal fishing and detrimental resource extraction.
Day 1 of the #BlueBeltSymposium24 flew by with amazing opening speeches from all UK OTs. #StHelena was showcased in a fun way (#Napoleon riding a whale shark) but the message of just how far we've come in so many areas of marine management thanks to the Blue Belt was conveyed.
Do you have people from developing commonwealth countries in your network who are interested in forestry? Fully funded distance learning scholarships with us in Bangor. This is a fabulous course.
Join us from within the Blue Belt Symposium as we hear from Elizabeth Clingham from @sthelenampa about their experiences with the #BlueBeltProgramme. Discover their highlights from the event and their hopes for the future of the Blue Belt Programme #BlueBeltSymposium24
On day 1 of #BlueBeltSymposium24, Elizabeth Clingham - Blue Belt Regional Coordinator gave a fantastic opening speech for St Helena. Helping to inform our UK OT colleagues on what St Helena has achieved with the support of the Blue Belt Programme.

These protections will help safeguard core habitats of marine species such as penguins and seals.
It will also create safe migratory pathways to ensure that returning humpback, blue, and fin whales can access krill without threats from fishing vessels. 🐳 https://t.co/cU2uAsU33h
Great news! Marine protections have been vastly expanded in the waters surrounding South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands.
This area is home to some of the most varied wildlife on the planet. 👉 https://t.co/cU2uAsU33h
It's Day 1 of the #BlueBeltSymposium24! Let's reflect on the programme's impact since 2016 and discuss future priorities. 🤝🌊🌎
We're looking forward to hearing from Overseas Territory representatives about their impressive work on the Blue Belt #BlueBeltSymposium24
Will we know if we have "bent the curve" of biodiversity loss?
Our paper tackling this question is out today in @ScienceAdvances
