To begin with, the 25,000 naira increment to the average low-grade civil servants (maybe at federal level only) for six months, is laughable and a kind of slap to the faces of Nigerian workers. So also, the phrase "Provisional Wage increment". I can't believe what he meant
who wallow in a sea of depression and hopelessness, as caused by the hash effects of subsidy removal and other unfriendly economic decisions and policies.
Mr president should know that, his Independence Day speech is far below what millions of citizens expected to hear from him
There is nothing different in the long scripted Independence Speech of President Tinubu than the usually rhetorics.
For how long will the president understand that his sugarcoating piece is no longer pleasing to downtrodden and poor citizens,
@dawisu Is the fine against Abba in person or against government of Kano. You know if it's against the latter, then Gawuna may end up paying for the crime he has not committed. And I'm not sure if Abba can appeal this one at the moment
I read some plans Nigerians have for Nigeria and though laudable and awe-inspiring, I have the feeling they will fail when implemented.
Why so?
Well, some Nigerians though optimists, forget who their clients/ beneficiaries/customers are. They propose or build projects based on imagined or accepted levels of 'how-things-should-be because that's how things are done in country A, B, or C'.
Is it good in Ghana? then ✅
Is it good in London? then ✅
Is it being done in South Africa? then it will work ✅
ETC...
They do not acknowledge that Nigeria is unique.
That ' Nigerianness' is very important if not the most important factor that affects how things pan out in Nigeria.
This is why we have many failed factories, thousands of abandoned govt projects, and millions of investors who gave up.
I just saw a post showing Nigerian children and parents stealing gravel on a new rural road constructed in their community. They were gleefully collecting the gravel in bags like it was a govt palliative they have a right to or something they have a right to have denied but were denied.
So how do we as a people address issues and bring development to Nigeria?
First, we must acknowledge that on a scale of 1-10 (of understanding development), most Nigerians are below 5, and then we must modify our plan to start with the most basic of basics.
Otherwise, we will just add to the numerous failed and unfinished projects around Nigeria🥹
