Michael Holding regarding the former captains requesting immediate and adequate medical assistance for Imran Khan.
"That is brilliant, I'm so happy to see that. I thought everybody was just going to sit on the sidelines and watch Imran being persecuted and abused" #ImranKhan
International cricket legends express deep concern for the well being of @ImranKhanPTI. As a sport star, Imran Khan brought honor and distinction to #Pakistan. Every Pakistani should care about his wellbeing. Why wouldn't the establishment care about the wellbeing of this distinguished son of #Pakistan?

Deeply saddened to hear about Imran bhai. Cricket has given us many shared moments, and as a fellow sportsman who has shared the platform and learned from him, I sincerely appeal that he be treated with dignity. Praying for his good health and strength for his family.

Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar among 14 former international cricket captains requesting Pakistan Govt for fair medical treatment, dignified detention conditions and fair trial for Imran Khan
These guys have shown how they may have been rivals on the field but will be friends forever
IMP: The list has no Pakistani name on it. Sad
Tweet impact? 17 international captains including Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev express concern over inhuman treatment being meted out to Imran Khan. So good to see: there are moments when the entire international cricket community must speak in one voice. This is surely one. 🙏 (list doesn’t include a single former Pak captain: itna darr kyon?)
A detailed report by the “Amicus Curiae” appointed by the Supreme Court of Pakistan on the health and prison conditions of arbitrarily detained former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan reveals disturbing details of serious human rights violations, inhumane treatment, psychological torture, and deliberate medical neglect, which has resulted in 85% vision loss in his right eye. Here are some highlights from the report:
The Man Who Saw (Cricket’s) Tomorrow, Imran Khan has lost his vision in the jail. They say his vision is now only 15 percent and that’s such a sad story
One World Cup. One university. Three cancer hospitals. Thirty years of political struggle and family sacrifice. Four bullets. Three years in jail. One eye. No crime. Still standing. What a man.
Pakistan's eternal shame: their greatest cricketer and former PM being subject to such treatment in jail only because he has stood upto the men in power. Imran Khan was a tiger on the field, is a LION off it. Like his politics or not, he is MR COURAGE! https://t.co/1Af22Os71D
We have been informed that my father, Imran Khan, has lost most of the vision in his right eye, with reports indicating only 15% eyesight remains. This is the direct consequence of 922 days of solitary confinement, medical neglect (denied blood tests) and the deliberate denial of proper treatment in jail.
The responsibility lies squarely with the regime in power, the Army Chief and the puppets enabling this cruelty. This physical deterioration is happening under their orders, their watch and their responsibility. They have manipulated and warped the justice system in order to keep my father in solitary confinement.
My brother and I are still being denied visas to see our father as his health deteriorates. History will record this injustice.
We urge human rights bodies, legal institutions and democratic nations to confront this persecution and ensure those responsible face consequences.
My brother and I are trying to travel to Pakistan to see our father. For 914 days, he has been held in solitary confinement while his health deteriorates and he is denied access to independent medical care.
Now the government is deliberately refusing to process our visas. Denying a prisoner treatment is cruel. Denying his children the right to see him is collective punishment. I call on international human rights organisations and governments to speak out and act before irreversible harm is done.
🇵🇰 NO COURTROOM, NO DEFENSE, NO JUSTICE: IMRAN KHAN AND HIS WIFE SENTENCED TO 17 YEARS IN JAIL
In yet another blow from the Pakistani establishment, Imran and his wife Bushra Bibi have been sentenced to a further 17 years in prison each over gifts they legally received while in office.
The Toshakhana 2 case accused them of “selling” Saudi state gifts - watches, diamonds, and jewelry - in 2021. But no due process, no transparency, and no real defense was allowed.
The trial? Held inside prison at Adiala Jail. The judge? Delivered the verdict straight to their cell. Imran is being kept in solitary confinement, and his sons say they fear for his life.
This is political persecution - plain and simple. Imran is a political prisoner, targeted for daring to challenge Pakistan’s powerful military-backed elite.
He’s already serving time in the Al-Qadir Trust case, another trial critics call a sham.
The message from the state is clear: challenge the system, and it will crush you.
