🧵 UTXO explained in simple terms

1/ Bitcoin doesn’t store your balance as a number in an account. Instead, your BTC exists as UTXOs (Unspent Transaction Outputs).

2/ Think of a UTXO like a digital cash note. When you spend it the old UTXO is consumed and new UTXOs are created

Example: You have a 1 BTC UTXO and send 0.3 BTC → 0.3 BTC goes to the receiver while 0.7 BTC comes back to you as change (a new UTXO).

4/ This UTXO model allows Bitcoin transactions and ownership to be verified without a traditional bank-style account balance
