Sister account of @HateAid.
Speaking up about digital violence and advocating for digital rights in the EU. Consultations & litigation support only in Germany.
Our account will be shut down but will remain active for purposes such as monitoring. Of course you can still reach out to us if you’re affected by digital violence. We’re here for you. To our counselling: https://t.co/elSi4JNQHw
In light of the recent developments we’ve decided to leave X. For us, freedom of speech and non-violent dialogue are existential. Over the past months it has become obvious that neither of them are possible here anymore.
We won’t support this and are leaving. It is time for the government and public authorities to follow suit. By staying on this platform, they legitimate it. There are alternatives where open discussion is possible and hatred & misanthropy are not rewarded through algorithms.
Thousands of women have been victimized by fake porn images created by artificial intelligence. The victims include minors, celebrities and politicians. DER SPIEGEL went searching for those behind the malicious platforms. https://t.co/UnwFntOYdL
*New article* on the EU's Directive on Violence Against Women, specifically measures on image-based abuse, with Carlotta Rigotti and Franzi Benning @HateAid
We welcome the Directive, but outline its limitations, and discuss the #DSA and #AIAct#MoreToDo

We have filed a complaint against YouTube with the Digital Services Coordinator due to indications of violations of the #DigitalServicesAct. We see shortcomings particularly in the explanation of legal options and access to internal complaints systems.
Long overdue: Telegram will now provide user data to authorities who have valid legal requests. But whether this will be enough to combat crime on the messaging service and how to prevent an exploitation by authoritarian governments remains unclear. https://t.co/hsiy4PswW5
@elonmusk In 2019, Kamala Harris had called for social networks like Twitter to be held more accountable. Last week, her video statement from back then was another building block in the disinformation campaign against the presidential candidate. https://t.co/sXLGFkH4bq
While Trump is considering @elonmusk as a US financial auditor, Harris has been warning about the dangers of unregulated platforms for years. The outcome of the US elections could radically change the way we deal with social media. https://t.co/h3B3YrvnWg

Our #TwitterTrial with @EUJS: Rejected for lack of jurisdiction. X again doesn't care about the problems on their platform. Instead, they choose a loophole. What happened and why we will now be going to the next instance all the more: https://t.co/4dpDFl8Uj2
Deepfakes are a threat to our democratic society. Hence we welcome the new criminal offense proposal for deepfakes by @bundesrat and urge that it should go even further to eliminate grey areas. https://t.co/GgKJGtjIVD

Laws for a fairer internet already do exist. We're making sure for you that these actually will be complied with. Our Managing Director Josephine will be on the advisory board of the Digital Services Coordinator in Germany. We are excited!🚀 #DigitalServicesAct
On Tuesday was the hearing at Berlin Regional Court for our case with @EUJS against @TwitterDE. X is using formal reasons to make strategic litigation against them impossible. We'll go through all instances if necessary & inform you when the judgement is available. #TwitterTrial
The #DigitalServicesAct mandates user-friendly reporting for illegal content. However, TikTok's interface design will likely be leading to fewer reports. We've filed a complaint with the @bnetza. See @DanielHolznagel's analysis for more details: https://t.co/chVTPzm5n1
@pertsch@HateAid Lies' gerne diesen Artikel: https://t.co/LEs20C6XwU Darin erläutern wir, wie Plattformen gegen Hass & Hetze konzipiert werden können.
Perhaps a new era of social media: a billionaire intends to buy TikTok in the US. And wants to fundamentally change the platform. Because it is not a law of nature that social media should promote hatred and division. #SafetyByDesign

#Disinformation counts as one of the greatest risks of our time. We have been saying this for years – and AI-generated deepfakes in the Indian election campaign make it clear once again: the future of #democracy will be decided online.

We are going to Japan. To be precise: @NHKWORLD_News, Japan's public media organisation, spoke to our Managing Director Anna-Lena about restoring online dignity. Watch the full interview here: https://t.co/voz7iQeUYJ
