Yet in 1968 CBS let regular white Americans say these things on national television without apology or fear.
An old woman shrugged off slavery guilt because her people had no part in it and told activists demanding land to go hunt down the actual slave owners instead.
Then she went on to call out the massive gaps in family structure and illegitimacy that almost no whites replicated.
Another woman said opportunity was handed out that summer yet many simply refused to grab it or accept the responsibility that comes with actual work.
Surveys showed 40-53% of whites viewed lower morals and basic laziness as real group patterns, while only 15% blamed discrimination as the main cause.
And yet here we are after generations of welfare expansion, endless victimhood programming, and total institutional capture by activists and their allies.
The same stubborn patterns in family breakdown, crime involvement, and work ethic remain visible in the data, often worse where the new narrative took hold.
But the majority never did fix the behaviors or incentives that worried people in ’68.
They simply made noticing them a career ending offense while forcing everyone to pretend the only explanation left is eternal systemic racism.
