Completely FREE and will keep improving.
If useful, please follow me & RT.😁😁
This opinion covers one of the tools LeafHope is currently developing for Canadian and worldwide growers interested in our open access technology!
Stay tuned to see soon our first prototype! 🤖🪲🔭
Happy to have hosted Abd (Dr. Hawamda, @HawamdaI) from Palestine Technical University through the end of August! 🌿
Thanks to the Québec–Palestine research collaboration program (@FRQ_NT × @PalestineAST), in one month Abd successfully sequenced the genomes of 8 Pseudomonas spp. affecting olives and almonds in Palestine 🫒🌰. We hope to welcome him back soon—there are still many more isolates to explore!
📢 PhD Position #1:
Microbiome Diversity and Evolution in Leafhoppers Across Canada 🇨🇦
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented PhD student to join our research group (https://t.co/xf3JFxSdLM) at Université Laval (Québec City, Canada) to investigate the diversity and evolution of the microbiome in Nearctic leafhoppers.
This exciting project will involve sequencing over 100 leafhopper species collected across Canada, with the goal of identifying strategies to manipulate the insect microbiome as a biocontrol tool, reducing the need for insecticides 🌿
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, entomology, genomics, or related fields, and a keen interest in insect–microbe interactions, symbiosis, or biological control. A Master’s degree is required (completed before the start date). Applications without a Master’s degree will not be considered.
📨 To apply, please send the following documents in a single PDF file:
* A cover letter describing your motivation and research interests ✍️
* Your curriculum vitae (CV) 📄 (please remove picture, date of birth or any personal information).
* Academic transcripts from your undergraduate and Master’s degrees 📚
⚠️ Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
🗓️ Expected start date: January 2026
📧 Please send your application or questions to: [email protected]
We look forward to hearing from you! 🌱
📢 PhD Position #2
Morphological Changes in Plant Roots Induced by Plasmodiophorid Effectors 🧬
We are inviting applications for a PhD position at Université Laval (Québec City, Canada) to investigate how effector proteins and peptides from plasmodiophorid pathogens alter root morphology to facilitate infection and colonization 🌿
This project builds on recent discoveries in our lab showing that certain effectors can reprogram root development in host plants (coming soon). The selected candidate will explore the molecular mechanisms behind these changes, focusing on the functional characterization of effectors and signalling pathways involved in root manipulation.
We are looking for a highly motivated candidate with a background in molecular biology, plant pathology, or related disciplines, and a strong interest in plant–microbe interactions. A Master’s degree is required (completed before the start date) . Applicants without a Master’s degree will not be considered.
📨 To apply, please submit the following documents in a single PDF:
* A cover letter describing your motivation and research interests ✍️
* Your curriculum vitae (CV) 📄 (please remove photo or personal information)
* Academic transcripts from undergraduate and Master’s studies 📚
⚠️ Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.
🗓️ Expected start date: January 2026
📧 Applications and inquiries should be sent to: [email protected]
We look forward to your application! 🥦
@Edel_PLopez@PalestineAST@FRQ_NT I want to take a moment to express my sincere thanks to Edel Pérez-López for outstanding hospitality and thoughtful assistance during the preparation phase. Many thanks also extended to @PalestineAST and @FRQ_NT for the financial support 🙏.
Happy to host Abd (Dr. Hawamda @HawamdaI) from the Palestine Technical University until the end of August! 🌿
Thanks to the support of the Québec-Palestine research collaboration program (@FRQ_NT – @PalestineAST), Abd will be characterizing bacterial isolates impacting olive and almond production in Palestine 🫒🌰, exploring their genetic diversity and virulence strategies through comparative genomics 🧬
A short but intensive stay to share knowledge, strengthen scientific ties 🤝, and ultimately help advance sustainable agriculture and local development 🌱🌍
