Tuchel continued, “I was satisfied that every single Englishman was afflicted by SOFA. A very interesting situation. I hope to be able to pursue my experiments in future.”
Allergy expert, Dr Thomas Tuchel, happened to be present and able to intervene in the SOFA episode. “I saw that 11 Englishmen were affected but felt that the sample size was too small. So I randomly introduced other Englishmen to the group.”
The SOFA outbreak occurred after the Englishmen had been interacting with a group of Argentinian men for about 55 minutes, and lasted a further 40 minutes. None of the Argentinians experienced any symptoms.
It seems that the Englishmen were afflicted by an immediate and severe aversion to one particular object, identified as a football. They found themselves unable to have it anywhere near them and went to any length to avoid or dispose of it. All members of the group were affected.
Medical experts in Atlanta GA are puzzled by an outbreak of a condition they have termed SOFA (Sudden Onset Football Allergy) among a group of Englishmen on Wednesday afternoon.

@BBCFergusWalsh@Vibeke_Venema@EmmaRusset I had a similar experience, with Covid-19-like symptoms (sore throat, persistent cough, fever, headache - unusual illness for me) in late January, two weeks after a trip to Brussels.
