Today, we had the great pleasure of receiving His Excellency Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

His Excellency Masoud Pezeshkian's historic visit holds particular significance for Iraq, the Kurdistan Region, especially Sulaymaniyah, and the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan. This visit serves as a continuation of the deep, long-standing relationship between us and the people of the Islamic Republic of Iran, a bond that was established and nurtured by President Mam Jalal.

During our meeting with His Excellency, we reaffirmed the Kurdistan Region's strong commitment to the security and stability of neighboring countries, particularly the friendly Iranian people. We stressed that we will neither allow nor desire for the Kurdistan Region to be used as a platform to attack the sovereignty of neighboring countries, especially the Islamic Republic of Iran. Instead, our goal is to strengthen and expand our long-standing relationship, guided by the principles of safeguarding both higher and national interests.

During the meeting, we expressed our deep gratitude to the Iranian leadership and people for their unwavering support to the Kurdistan people during all challenging periods. We acknowledged their vital role in the fight against terrorism and the defeat of ISIS, working alongside the Kurdistan and Peshmerga forces. Additionally, we emphasized that we will never forget the cooperation and brotherhood shown by our friends and will continue to follow the policy set by President Mam Jalal, which prioritized protecting the highest and common interests.

In response, President Masoud Pezeshkian praised President Mam Jalal's pivotal role and influential position in shaping a new Iraq and crafting a wise policy with neighboring countries, particularly Iran. He emphasized respect for this historic relationship and expressed hope for its further development. Pezeshkian also assured their support for our national efforts to maintain peace and stability in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region.
