Direct instruction is joyful & leads pupils to success. Here is a *clip* where I use high frequency & high participation questioning in 3 phases:
1. Check for listening
2. Rehearsal

To improve the use of teaching and learning techniques in the classroom we need to define them “this is how we do it here” and make it common practice across the school.

When implementing T&L techniques their success relies on this clarity and creating opportunities for teachers to deliberately practice.

Over the past 2 years, I have paid more attention to the way handwriting is taught than at any other point in my career. Handwriting seemed a fairly simple thing that pupils would just pick up with a few lessons on letter formation. I was wrong!
