Today is #WorldVeterinaryDay. π
This year's theme, Veterinarians: Guardians of Food and Health, highlights how safe food relies on strong veterinary services.
Thank you to veterinarians across the world for all you do to protect our food and health.
Today is World #ParasiteAwarenessDay. To mark the day, 40+ veterinary associations across the globe have united behind a global Prevention Pledge.
We've signed on because parasite prevention is an essential part of petcare. It protects animals and the people around them. Learn more at https://t.co/Gyog9PUDzB
Over 1 million US dogs test positive for heartworm each year.
In Europe, where heartworm was once geographically contained, we're now seeing it spread to new regions.
This changing risk is why World #ParasiteAwarenessDay exists: to ensure pet owners and veterinarians have the information they need to prevent parasites before they take hold.
Because prevention is always better than treatment.
On March 20 the world comes together to recognize World #ParasiteAwarenessDay.
Fleas, ticks, and worms can cause harm to pets, and some can spread to people. The good news? Prevention works.
This year, we're rallying behind a global Prevention Pledge

Thrilled to provide our perspective in @EuropeScientist on the need for countries to consider how we can address the trade rules that limit animal vaccination.
We must come together to improve how we prevent disease, for animals and people!

On International Day of Veterinary Medicine, we celebrate the veterinarians at the heart of prevention. Their expertise underpins the welfare and well-being of animals across the planet.
Thank you to veterinarians everywhere for your dedication and impact!
Veterinarians are critical to preserving antibiotics.
They work to prevent disease and avoid then need to use antibiotics.
But, if illness strikes, they are ready to provide animals with the right treatment that protects their health, while safeguarding these medicines.
For World #AMR Awareness Week - we thank veterinarians for their hard work!
World #AMR Awareness Week Continues!
Did you know that @WOAH published an 'AMR Progress Report' last year for Animal Health? It found that:
1οΈβ£"Antimicrobial use in animals has significantly decreased since 2015"
2οΈβ£"The use of antimicrobials critical to human health in animals is low"
3οΈβ£Actors from across the value chain have all taken critical actions

Last year, we worked with @FAOLivestock to develop a publication explaining - How Prevention Can Reduce the Need for Antibiotics.
It explains how actions like vaccination, biosecurity, and nutrition protects an animal against disease, and reduces the need for antibiotics.
Its these type of practices that have delivered reductions in antibiotic need across the world!
As part of World #AMR Awareness Week...Read it:

"One of the cheapest, safest and most proactive measures to stop pandemics before they start: vaccinating animals that carry the zoonoses."

#WorldZoonosesDay was yesterday, but the urgency to act on zoonotic disease prevention hasnβt passed.
We teamed up with @WorldVetAssoc on an op-ed in

Tomorrow is #WorldZoonosesDay!
In honor of the day...We've partnered with @WorldVetAssoc to call on all sectors to put animal health at the center of public health strategies.
Animal health is public health β and prevention is our most powerful tool.
Zoonotic diseases donβt respect borders or sectors. So our response must unite all stakeholders.
Tomorrow is #WorldZoonosesDay. Letβs use it as an opportunity to embrace One Health and collaborate across veterinary medicine, public health, industry, and governments to prevent infections at their source
Because animal health IS public health.
Did you know this Sunday is #WorldZoonosesDay?
It honors the anniversary of Louis Pasteurβs first successful rabies vaccination in 1885.
This was a groundbreaking public health milestone, and it reminds us that by preventing zoonotic diseases in animals, we can protect people too.
This Sunday...Let's build on this legacy and re-commit to stopping more zoonoses at their source
