As Arthritis Awareness Month comes to a close, we’re proud to share one more Green Heart 💚.
All month long, ACHD has joined the Arthritis Foundation’s Green Heart Fridays 💚 to help shine a light on the millions of people living with arthritis.
Arthritis affects daily life in many ways. Many people also live with other health conditions — such as heart disease, diabetes, or obesity — that can make managing arthritis even harder.
In the United States, nearly 26 million people with arthritis have trouble doing everyday activities. This can include walking, doing household tasks, working, or taking part in social activities.
As we wrap up this month of awareness, we recognize the strength of the arthritis community and everyone who supports them. Thank you for following along and helping us highlight the impact of #arthritis on so many lives.

Many people have heard of arthritis, but they may not know how serious it is.
Arthritis is the number one cause of disability in the United States. It affects almost 60 million adults and children.
Every May, during Arthritis Awareness Month 💚, the Arthritis Foundation works to help people learn more about this painful and debilitating condition.
• In the U.S., about 1 in 4 adults has arthritis or a related disease. Many children also live with arthritis.
• Some people think arthritis only affects older adults. This is not true. Most people with arthritis are age 65 or younger.

The Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs will now pay for drug testing strips using opioid settlement dollars awarded to the department as a result of a multistate investigation of opioid manufacturers and distributors. That win led to settlement agreements for Pennsylvania worth billions of dollars.
“The Pennsylvania Overdose Prevention program provides the necessary resources for the Allegheny County Health Department’s Overdose Prevention Program to save lives and prevent overdose deaths. The numerous partners we distribute naloxone and test strips to attest to the critical value of having these available not only to save lives, but to reduce stigma, educate and strengthen communities,” said Katie Wooten, Allegheny County Health Department’s Overdose Prevention Program Manager.
Individuals seeking substance use treatment or recovery support can be connected to local resources by calling the toll-free PA Get Help Now helpline at 1-800-662-HELP (4357)
