@DHSCgovuk And now show us the equivalent graph for MPs salaries… I am sure the majority of nurses also ‘regret that some union members have voted for industrial action’…
Public health funding 24% lower than six years ago: disinvestment in services that support health, save lives & boost communities. In this of all years, that is a false economy with huge long-term costs & consequences
For the life of me, I cannot understand why we are not investing more in the first two years of life. Get that wrong and we're forever playing the catch-up game. Billions spent on consultants, but pennies on our youngest children and effective parenting.
A health visitor plays a key role a supporting the whole family and ours made such a difference for which we will be forever grateful. @iHealthVisiting@nicnacs

We really need legislation to ban the use of 'stage numbers' on formula: calling them stage 1, 2, 3, 4 suggests a natural progression - and people don't realise there are no compositional regulations in the EU for stage 3 and 4 products as they are not considered necessary.
@jlandpcustserv I was shocked to see this advert on Pinterest. ‘Evidence shows that sleeping a baby on anything but a firm, flat surface, or using soft, heavy bedding, can increase the risk of sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS)’ - @LullabyTrust
Definitely not essential or safe!
To ensure wellbeing and motivation at work, and to minimise workplace stress, research evidence suggests that people have three core needs. We use an ABC framework to outline eight key recommendations to improve the work lives of nurses and midwives: https://t.co/GM239dE8vv
We delivered our first virtual antenatal group session yesterday evening with 12 local families.
Thank you to all of the parents-to-be who attended. We look forward to seeing you again when your baby arrives!

Feeling disgruntled. As a @PHE_uk employee, we had 5-10% annual budget cuts all 7 years we existed, constantly made to justify our very existence, show value for money, reams of paperwork+++
Now watching govt throwing millions at private companies to do Public Health work. Gross
What an amazing conference #iHVEvidence2020 has been! Our first to dip into virtual conferences! Over the last 2 mornings, we’ve had fabulous speakers, great e-posters, superb networking and a virtual exhibition...but it’s not over just yet...final end of day session is open now!
@Gabri_EllaConti I love your phrase to summarise the impact of Covid-19 on families - ‘an unprecedented mix of shocks’ So true for all of us. #IHVevidence2020
“Toxic stress” is a useful concept to understand impacts on adversity on children & families
Also some downsides - an emphasis on damage rather than adaptation & harder to use with families who may be doing their best in difficult circs
Like all good things - use with care?
Babies not woolly baa lambs
@JamesEdPsych 👏🏼
How do we want children to experience the world?
One with danger and risk?
A totally safe one?
One with danger but we can cope?
Just the right amount!
Children need to know
Am I safe?
Am I connected?
Am I cared for?

Fantastic and informative presentation by @JamesEdPsych on the emotional impacts of COVID-19 for children and families, acknowledging that Health Visitors are already familiar with, and well placed to identify the needs and strengths within families at this time #iHVEvidence2020
Loving this talk by Helen Crawley - real food is better ( and cheaper) for babies than anything that comes out of a packet. @1stepsnutrition#iHVEvidence2020
Can it be right that community nursery nurses trained in child development, and not nurses, have been redeployed for weeks to adult wards to work as nursing assistants whilst many families are struggling? It’s taking a terrible toll on them. Please get them back. @iHealthVisiting
Very informative webinar from the @iHealthVisiting on ‘COVID-19 in children and managing minor childhood illnesses’. Fantastic presentations from all three speakers. Thank you @Alison_Morton2, @doctorsanjay, @SMullenHV and Dr Oliver Morris. #iHVMembersEvent
