#Research: "Upon analysis, researchers found that participants who drank coffee in the morning were 31% less likely to die from cardiovascular disease and a 16% reduced risk in all-cause mortality risk." https://t.co/MTwtF3JrNF #health#Coffee
Bernie Sanders said this was “the most important point of the hearing.”
Dr. Califf admitted: “What’s going on here is that the food industry has figured out that there’s a combination of sweet, carbohydrate and salt that goes to our brains, and I think it’s addictive. That’s my opinion.”
“I think it’s the same neural circuits that are involved in opioid addiction and other kinds of addiction.”
Sanders: “You said the food industry is producing products which are unhealthy and addictive. The question of course is, that’s exactly what gone on, what the hell have we done about it over the last 15 years?”
@VP Why do so many Americans need insulin in the first place? How about addressing the root causes with our food industry and FDA? It’s a shame that clearly corporate interests come before that of the American people.
At last! Some good news from the FDA. They've finally banned brominated vegetable oils from most beverages.
Brominated vegetable oils are added to prevent citrus drinks from separating. However, bromine has been linked to cysts and dysfunction in the thyroid and mammary glands. This is likely due to the bromine ion disrupting normal iodine processing within these organs.
Both ions have a negative charge of one and our body's enzymes and membrane transporters can get the two ions mixed up with problematic effects.
Iodine is a nutrient. Bromine is not and can promote oxidation and oxidative stress in our cells with damaging effects at levels as low as 0.1 parts per million.
Whether you drink these sorts of beverages or not, you can still develop cysts in these glands due to low dietary iodine and/or high bromine intake from other processed ingredients, like brominated flour. (Among other factors, such as coffee or large amounts of dairy fat)
In my experience, high-iodine foods can help alleviate painful breast cysts and help restore thyroid function, too!
