The world’s largest electric aircraft took to the skies for the first time — the flight cost just $5
US company Heart Aerospace has flown its full-scale electric aircraft X1 for the first time — the largest all-electric aircraft ever to take flight.
The test flight lasted 27 minutes, with the aircraft reaching an altitude of 335 meters. The electricity used for the entire flight cost around $5.
The X1 was built to test technologies for a future 30-seat hybrid-electric aircraft.
We met Heart when it was just Anders and his sketches for an electric plane. Yesterday an outrageously ambitious team (that could probably cram into the fuselage) successfully flew the world’s largest battery-powered passenger aircraft. What a privilege to be along for this ride.

Our X1 demonstrator recently completed low-speed taxi testing at our flight-test base at Plattsburgh International Airport, marking an important milestone in the aircraft's ground-testing program ahead of FAA special airworthiness certification and first flight.
