Yesterday's Six One News on RTÉ infuriatingly prioritised a relentless 15-minute onslaught on Clinate Change, kicking off with a menacing red map of Europe, complemented by correspondent George Lee acting as the grim reaper spouting debunked figures by many alternate “expert’s” on Climate Change. No alternative expert or viewpoint was deemed worthy, and the broadcast peddled baseless claims, like last year being the warmest in human history (untrue), and record deaths in climate-related disasters (untrue).
They then poorly explained carbons role in the atmosphere and how we have just had the highest increase in carbon in the atmosphere and at record levels (Untrue).
George even took a wild stab at European death tolls using last year's U.S. figures, and then went on to add unfounded predictions for global temperatures for 2024 based I can only assume on a hunch .
RTE seems to have eagerly embraced Climate Change as its new Covid, gleefully indulging in fear-mongering narratives. How many times must we endure these doomsday tales? Notably, Greta, the school skipper, quietly erased her erroneous ice caps melting prediction within 5 years tweets from 5 years ago because clearly it never happened. Let's not forget, this is the same RTE that fed us misinformation about thousands of excess deaths during Covid (now proven untrue with the latest data showing no excess deaths at all). The government insists on trusting RTE, yet this biased and alarmist reporting raises serious doubts about their commitment to impartial news and presenting alternative viewpoints. The climate doomsday enthusiasts likely reveled in excitement as George confidently recited figures from his notepad, unchallenged and unquestioned.
