We had some struggles in our first trial of the morning, but managed to get good scores in our other 2 rounds, despite the wheelchair not wanting to steer well in grass. This afternoon it got hot. Too hot. So we bailed and went to nap.
And yes, my butt has a ❤️ on it.

Today I went with the humans to get the keys to our new home! The house that love bought!❤️
It was my first time in it. I found the front ramp and checked out the kitchen. The fridge spits ice if you push it with your nose!!! But the best part is the ramp to the backyard! It's not a big yard, but big enough for zoomies and ball!!!!
The next few days are gonna be busy. We need to finish packing. Move stuff. There's some adaptations that we still need to do to like taking some doors off until they get widened, and maybe making the kitchen more functional for a wheelchair. We didn't stay long today. Just long enough to measure some things and have a good play. We have a lot to do the next few days. The movers are coming Saturday!

Friends! We finally found it!
A rare wheelchair-accessible home with ramps, a yard, and an accessible bathroom. Pretty much move in ready. We just need a bit more to cover the down payment & moving costs. Did you know that Service Dogs are one of the most helpful aids for Veterans suffering from PTSD?

Yet, there isn't a single benefit or service offered through Veteran's Affairs Canada to assist vets in acquiring one.

Rather, they prefer to offer copious drugs or MAiD.

A service dog doesn't only offer companionship. Far from it.

Studies have shown (particularly in the case of operational stress injuries including PTSD) that there are many positive impacts for Veterans with PTSD after acquiring the service dog including decreased nightmares, improved sleep, fewer depressive symptoms and more social integration in the community.

For a veteran trying to reintegrate themselves into society after returning from a theater and suffering from an OSi, knowing someone has their 6 is more important than most people know. And a service dog provides that security.

@speyer8868 and I were speaking earlier today about it. I think this would be something we can petition VAC to make a change in offering to Veterans who need it. While VAC has done some research into it, I have seen the positive impacts myself from a service dog to vets, and highly advocate for it.

@erinotoole, you were Minister of VAC, and I'm sure still have contacts within. What would you say to helping us make some inroads for some positive change within VAC to help Veterans, and effect their mental state?
Particularly this month, when theres a spotlight on Men's Mental Health?
