@BraidNational@muya910@keeperssaga I'm a minority as well and it feels really nice to be represented in media ... but that doesn't mean I need to be represented in *all* media
@keeperssaga@Matthew25174239@BraidNational I don't think Robert Jordan meant "Every man, yes even Rich" is fundamentally incapable of understand a woman.
But he recognized the differences between man and woman and had a lot of interesting things to say about it.
Feels like you couldn't open your mind beyond "binary bad"
@keeperssaga@Matthew25174239@BraidNational How do you read WoT and the only thing you get out of the gender themes is "men dominate women submit" lmao
No wonder you don't like the books, you didn't understand them
@keeperssaga@BraidNational I think that's a bad perspective to have for a beloved IP like you said. Please do not be rude we are just having a conversation bro
@keeperssaga@BraidNational I don't know how you could have that view tbh.
I respect it and all but from episode 1 the pacing was weird, the writing was boring... nothing about the show, except maybe the sets, striked me as anything above mediocre.
Guess we are living in different worlds π€·ββοΈ
@keeperssaga@BraidNational Yeah but I think its gross to get an IP and then make it bad and undo things important to the story and the author.
In bad taste.
@keeperssaga@BraidNational And if you change these things thst are integral, you get a substandard story.
WoT was written carefully, you can't take it apart and frankenstein it back together and then expect something of the same quality
@keeperssaga@BraidNational Because in RJ's world the binary exists and is essential for universe and the plot. It is all over, from minor Two Rivers squabbles, to the book's romances, to large scale magic.
If you don't conform to gender binary then power to u, but that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in WoT
@keeperssaga@BraidNational It's a fantasy series where gender divide goes down to the very core of the universe though.
I thought RJ had lots of interesting things to say about gender, things I agree with and things I disagree with.
You're free to make your own books with no gender binary, no?
@ryanthemaddev Feels like I dishonor myself when I vote for somebody I don't believe in. I don't like the shaming of people who choose not to vote. It's valid to choose to step back and say no.
