@Persimmonea The general attitude about it here is that you are taking a child away from their family and traditional lifestyle and community and actually is quite cruel. At least the people I've talked to about it.
@Persimmonea The adopting kids thing is very American evangelical. Never met an evangelical family who's done that here (although someone close to me wants to, and I try an talk them out of it).
