The first police force in the British Isles (1798) were the Thames River Police. Set up by the "West Indian Merchants" to protect "their" goods produced by the blood & labour of enslaved Africans from being "stolen" by the London poor.

VCs need to make moves to sort the disputes out now. If university buildings need to close due to public health concerns then that has to happen. But that doesn't mean UCU members should agree to work/teach online. That's a separate issue and they've squandered our good will.
