The repeated shootings, at Jewish schools and synagogues, is creating fear and anger in a community that has experienced pogroms, persecution and horrors for many generations. Antisemitism is deplorable. And holding any community accountable for what happens overseas is not only wrong, and wrong-headed- it should be challenged by all of us. Thank you to the Toronto police for their commitment to bringing the perpetrators of these crimes to justice. And like everyone in our city, Toronto’s Jewish community must be able to live openly, proudly and without fear of hate, intimidation, harassment or violence. Let’s stand together, demand that the laws are enforced effectively, and whenever a community is being targeted, their elected leaders should put politics aside, be genuinely there for them, and offer the assistance they need to feel safe, secure and supported.

Multiple hydraulic fluid spills have repeatedly led to major subway delays. This impacts our ability to rely on the TTC to get to work, school or appointments on time. Investigations have already occurred, yet the problems persist. This cannot be allowed to continue. I’ll be asking questions and demanding transparency, accountability, and most importantly action, to prevent this from happening again at the next TTC board meeting.

Average weekly gross pay is ~$1,000 per employee.

Add in benefits and total taxpayer cost is ~$155 million per week.
