The Ministry of Mines and Mining Development and the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on 8 October 2026 to strengthen collaboration in preventing and combating corruption in the mining sector.
The partnership seeks to promote transparency, accountability and ethical conduct through the implementation of an Integrity Pledge programme, corruption risk assessments, information sharing, and the timely referral of corruption allegations. It also provides for reciprocal capacity-building initiatives and the establishment of a Joint Steering Committee to oversee implementation and monitor progress.
The agreement underscores the importance of safeguarding Zimbabwe’s mineral resources for the benefit of all citizens while respecting ZACC’s constitutional independence. It reflects the Ministry’s commitment to strengthening institutional systems, promoting integrity in public service and ensuring that corruption does not undermine sustainable growth and development in the mining sector.

As Alexandra Xanthaki concludes her Zimbabwe visit, the conversation on cultural rights should extend beyond the assessment itself. Constructive UN engagement can support cultural preservation, community participation and continued dialogue on areas needing improvement.

📝🌦️ Late Afternoon farmer advisory nuggets on what to do with the recent WEATHER EVENTS.
🌾 Winter farmers don’t harvest grain with high moisture, hence wait for the sunshine and assess the moisture again before harvesting.
🌽🫛🍅 ALL farmers should use the rains to do land preparation ahead of the planting window which will be guided by the short term rainfall forecasts.

A fresh responsibility, a bigger platform to serve! Best wishes to Dr Kudakwashe Tagwirei as he joins Cabinet. Zimbabwe's Vision 2030 ambitions require bold thinking, productive partnerships and practical solutions that deliver prosperity across communities.
Zimbabwe’s beauty lies in its rich cultural diversity. From traditional dances and music to indigenous languages, customs and colourful attire, every community contributes to our shared national identity. Different traditions, one proud nation. 🇿🇼

As the UN Special Rapporteur wraps up her tour of Mat North, perhaps the narrative around Binga will also change.
Beyond the outdated stereotypes of a hard marijuana grade (probably the one that hit Macheso during the funeral wake of Chivhayo) lies a district rich in opportunity and increasingly, evidence of real progress. The 65km Mlibizi water system has been rehabilitated, restoring reliable water to thousands of people, while schools and health facilities have also benefited; new clinics have been completed.
The Binga Airstrip rehabilitated, schools and homes electrified, and major road, irrigation, skills-training and civil-registration projects are underway. Add to that the economic potential of Lake Kariba’s fisheries and eco-tourism, resilient Tonga heritage, thriving craft industries and climate-smart agriculture, and Binga’s story is clearly bigger than the tired tropes. It is a story of communities building, adapting and creating opportunities and it is time to look beyond the misconceptions and invest in Binga’s real story.

🇿🇼❤️ FIRST LADY DR AUXILLIA MNANGAGWA'S DOEK DRIVE: REVIVING OUR CULTURE, EMPOWERING WOMEN AND PRESERVING OUR HERITAGE
A doek is more than just a piece of cloth. It symbolises dignity, respect, womanhood, cultural identity and the rich traditions passed down from our mothers and grandmothers.
Through her flagship Doek Drive, Zimbabwe's First Lady, Her Excellency Dr Auxillia Mnangagwa, is championing the revival of our cultural values, empowering women and encouraging younger generations to embrace and preserve their African heritage.
Launched in Shamva, Mashonaland Central Province, in May 2026, the initiative has reached communities in Manicaland, Masvingo, Matabeleland South, Mashonaland East, Midlands, Matabeleland North, Bulawayo and Harare, demonstrating her commitment to ensuring that no woman, community or province is left behind.
The overwhelming turnout in Bulawayo, where women gathered in colourful doeks, imvunulo and traditional wrapping cloths, reflected the beauty of Zimbabwe's cultural diversity, unity and pride.
Beyond traditional dressing, the Doek Drive promotes Ubuntu/Unhu, respect, family values and the empowerment of women and young girls. It reminds us that embracing modern development should never mean forgetting our roots.
As Zimbabwe progresses towards Vision 2030, Her Excellency continues to demonstrate that cultural preservation, women's empowerment and national development go hand in hand.
🇿🇼 Dhuku redu, hunhu hwedu, tsika dzedu, nhaka yedu! Our culture, our identity, our pride!

Zimbabwe’s lithium story has crossed an important line: from “future potential” to billions in actual export earnings. US$2.16bn by September 2026 puts lithium ahead of PGMs in MMCZ mineral sales. That is a serious shift. #AsakhiZim
4 DAYS TO GO. Chinhoyi is next. The 23rd ZANU PF National People’s Conference runs from 12–17 October at CUT, with economic development, empowerment and Vision 2030 at the centre of the agenda. From resolutions to results. #ZANUPFConf2026
Today Zimbabwe says a final goodbye to Sir Wicknell Chivayo and his wife, Lucy Muteke Chivayo. What began as disbelief has become a painful farewell. May their families, especially the children they leave behind, find strength as they lay their loved ones to rest.
It was a pleasure to host a dinner in honour of Zimbabwe Care from the United States, celebrating an enduring partnership with the Angel of Hope Foundation that, since 2018, has helped bring quality healthcare closer to communities across Zimbabwe.
My heartfelt gratitude goes to the Zimbabwe Care medical professionals from the United States and our local health personnel, whose time, expertise and resources supported the week-long Masvingo outreach and helped essential medical supplies and other donations reach families in need.
This partnership is a beautiful example of what can be achieved when international solidarity comes together with local commitment. We remain committed to strengthening this partnership and ensuring that its benefits continue to touch the lives of our people.
In moments of profound loss, presence can speak louder than words. Amb. Christopher Mutsvangwa visited the Chivayo family to personally convey his condolences, joining relatives, friends, leaders and citizens standing with the family during this painful period.
