If you take one thing from World Suicide Prevention Day today it should be this: if you think someone isn’t OK, ask them about it. You can interrupt someone’s suicidal thoughts. You could even save their life.
Let’s prevent suicide today. Because tomorrow’s too late.
Survivors regularly tell me how they have to limit where they go or who they see to avoid their abuser.
Restricting where perps can go is the right step but they must be properly monitored and abusers must face prompt consequences for breaches, so we can keep victims safe.
Tonight is about YOU!
We’re celebrating #socialworkers who light up the social work sector by helping others navigate the various challenges life can present. 🌟

I welcome today’s announcements on progress to introduce Raneem’s law and pilot the new domestic abuse protection orders.
This is a first step forward in govt's commitment to halve VAWG in a decade, and I look forward to working together to make this ambition a reality. ⬇️
VOICES at the DAC is my virtual platform for #DomesticAbuse survivors to influence change.
If you have an opportunity for survivors to input into your org's work, send it to us by 7th Oct.
It could be shared with our 750+ VOICES at the DAC members. 👇

Domestic abuse is a devastating and widespread crime, making up 1 in 6 reports to police.
Yet as this report makes clear, victims are still being failed by the criminal justice system.
It’s time govt and policing leaders get to grips with this very serious problem. 👇
We must see stronger understanding of the links between domestic abuse and suicide.
In this guest blog for #16Days, researchers @sarahdangar & @jh_rowlands highlight the importance of learning from domestic abuse related suicides through the DHR process.

Fabulous day reflecting on our safeguarding arrangements- the strength of partnership alongside the value we place on hearing the voice of children and their families and how this shapes our practice 💫
