X is no longer a space I enjoy. I’ve taken the decision to move to Bluesky. I know it’s not an airport & I don’t need to announce my departure, but I wanted to let people know there’s an alternative which seems to be more inclusive with space for challenging, respectful debate.
Reading for the 3rd time the magnificent ‘The Spinning Heart’ by Donal Ryan. With so many great books to read, I rarely re-read any, but this speaks to my soul in the vernacular in which I was raised but no longer live. A masterpiece - to be followed by ‘Heart be at Peace’.
Remembering the 266 men who died in the Gresford Colliery disaster 90 years ago. A beautiful service was held at the memorial this morning to remember the people who went to work in the mine that day but never came home. Only 11 bodies were ever recovered.
With two new books to enjoy, sitting out opposite the Arts Block @tcddublin I’m transported waaaaaay back to student days. I’m sure there are far more tourists here nowadays though!
“The moon was a ghostly galleon tossed upon cloudy seas.” Always think of these lines from The Highwayman by Alfred Noyes on a night like this - beautiful blue moon over the Wirral.
Huge congratulations to my amazing friend @cathymonty_psy who is not only now a Professor but also one of the smartest, funniest and ‘hardest’ people I’ve ever known. Ultramarathons anyone?? Looking forward to celebrating soon! 🍾
